I'm typing this as I'm listening - and I'm certainly enjoying your performance! I very often don't enjoy listening to large instruments, which often sound muddy, but in this instance I can hear precisely what is going on even in the last movement of this wonderful sonata - a movement that often sounds very confused. Clarity is certainly your hallmark, but at the same time you bring out both the beauty and - in the fourth movement - the grandeur of the work. Very well done: thank you! John

Thank you so much! I appreciate your kind words. This piece indeed does require clarity, particularly in the last movement with all of that wonderful contrapuntal motion.

@@eddiezheng I'm just looking forward to listening to more of your playing as soon as I make myself some time!

I have enjoyed all of your KZbin videos - your playing is a joy and a wonderful antidote to the dreary, muddy and tedious performances we hear too often in Britain. Here organists seem to think that rubato is forbidden, phrasing is not appropriate for organs and legato playing is de rigeur. Thank you for your talented, clean, refreshing playing and obviously personal interpretations.

Catching up on your vids, and I love the Mendelssohn Sonatas, this is solid! Tom Murray at Yale would be proud 😊 Try reading the Sonata No. 6 during a snow flurry in winter. I think you will get that. BTW do you listen to other organists? Who are your faves?😢
