never understood why people tend to just throw away(sent off alone) their experimentals. mine always where the center of my army, surrounded by a good mix of units, permanent fightercover overhead and several engineers for repairs.

Because of timing. A monkey at 16 minutes without any support will be a lot more effective than a monkey at 22 minutes with everything you mentioned.

eh, it's a significan't ressource investment, and just keeps the battle comm relevant in the late t2 / early t3 phase. won't last you against full on t3 armies, and t4's just roll over you like any other battle comm. I mean, even in this video, all it took to blow up it and its forward base, was 1 t3 bomber and 3 t3 gunships. Hardly a great obstacle. In fact, it's a noob trap, since it makes people over-confident with its forward momentum, while making them forget that all the ressources they sunk into it, their opponent likely used to counter it in due time. I'd say it's balanced reasonably enough.
