Always good having two climbers on a crew. One guy always steps up when an unexpected climb is necessary to complete the job. It’s dangerous enough when you’re motivated to climb, Nevermind when you’re not mentally prepared for it

I’m always in awe of how you young guys throw those big saws around like they weigh nothing! I may be 64, but my 461 w/ 32” bar is all I can manage for occasional firewood cutting.

You two are a great team. Jacob that helmet scares me, you keep looking up just like Jeb did and it didn’t protect him. You had some falling branches and I can’t even imagine what would have happened if you hadn’t run out from under that tree. Consider using the green helmet with the face shield please. You are precious to your family and your friends in addition to the fans here on KZbin. Be safe and so glad Randy was there to help you. Good felling of this sappy tree!

That is a lot of "sap", resin, really. Did you figure out why it had so much? I have found it comes from ring shake or radial cracks in the outer sapwood. However, looks like there is some discolored wood in the stump and end of the butt log. Could have had root or butt rot, and the tree reacted to that by making lots of resin. Cutting the stump at the ground might have given you some more clues. It would be important to know if you have brown cubical rot or laminated root rot on the property, as it is usually in multiple trees, and they can fail suddenly even if green. Looked like this tree had some crown die-back, another symptom. Another reason arborists or loggers don't sit on fresh fir stumps!

Q: how does a voluminous amount of sap affect the chain and bar while cutting? Any splash with the chips towards the faller from the bottom part of chain? What do you use to clean chain of sap?

I’m surprised that tree cutters don’t have toe jacks. When a tree hangs up and you have a 1” slit that you cut having a 10 ton jack could save a life.

I just thought about calling sap, "tree blood". My perspective, for a second, varied a notch out of conservation mindedness. Ultimately, I love and am grateful for trees and what they provide. "Tree juice" works I suppose. I think I still have some vintage turpentine, and maple syrup on hand, among other products. Thanks for the vids.

Yeah Jake I called matson's a while back because you always talk about them reporting saws and I'm in Pittsburgh they said they would not do it for me because you're not allowed to ship ported saws that's news to me cuz I get them sent to me all the time from all over the country maybe you could talk to them and see if they can change that they could probably get some good business God bless Jake
@mikegott3364
@mikegott3364 4 ай бұрын
They put a decomp in saws for a reason. 592 run quite a bit of timing stock and starter kicks stock. Yours was ported if I remember correctly so it should have more compression too, which is even harder on the starter. As far as the idle issue, maybe whoever ported it has done something wrong causing an air leak possibly. When they warrantied the oil line did they hook it up to the computer and check for diagnostic codes? I’ve had my 592 for 3 years already and it’s been trouble free and runs like a scalded dog, same for my 572’s! To be honest not sure why you even have it, you’ve always been a Stihl guy along with your buddy Gordy so any issue at all is going to be amplified with your dislike for them anyway. Instead of complaining on your Chanel why not get it to whoever worked on it for you and tell them to make it right! There is numerous hard wood fallers running them without issues.
