This is such an amazing animation. First, the movement is so fluid and bouncy. You must have spent so long on this, and it shows. The follow through with the ears is a lovely nuance, and it makes the whole thing seem more lively. Second, the mix of 3d and 2d reminds me of things like Gumball or Parappa. Its wonderful, and I'm in awe as to how you did that. As a amateur animator and lifelong animation nerd, I love this.

To make shadows like that you copy the layer of the object (cat) set it under the original layer and make it a solid color then move it till it looks corect with the lighting next fix how it looks to [the little details] then on to the next frame Also most people mess with the opacity

I remember, this was the first video that I saw of yours, and I was so amazed by just how smooth the animation is that I decided to talk to my dad for seriously like 20 minutes talking about how smooth this was. He was probably confused but he saw that I was really passionate about animations from that. AYY, you a White Stripes fan!? So that is totally a 3d background, and it blends so WELL with the 2d Characters, especially the shadows. And Your animations just have SO MUCH LIFE! I'm currently a Junior in 3D design college, and they haven't taught me ANYTHING like this. I wanted to know what program(s) you used for this, and maybe if there is a technical term for 2D in 3D that I need to know. I would appreciate it so much :3 Edit: Unless you just drew the shadows or projected them to the background.

I used Flash and After Effects to make this! AE's really good for simple 3d since they're just image or video files moved and rotated around. Then throw in a lamp and position it, and there's the shadows! I'm not so great at explaining but there's tons of good tutorials online
