FEMA needs to be abolished and the money given directly to the communities involved. First Katrina (when the head of FEMA had to resign I think), then Maui, and now Helene. And why are all these agencies, the Secret Service, FEMA, etc, now headed by women? I don't want to see so many of them in top positions because they're doing a lousy job frankly, and I say that as a woman!

I tend to agree with you. My daughter has been through 2 major hurricanes. First, hurricane Floyd in 1999 when she was a student at East Carolina U., and now hurricane Helene in Ashville. She said in 1999 FEMA was front and center in Greenville. A FEMA agent contacted her and her roommate within 2 weeks. They had to evacuate their building and lost all contents of their apartment. He made a list of all they lost and they received a check in due time. I visited her 2 weeks after the hurricane, and the place was positively crawling with FEMA employees and National Guard. Many stayed in the same hotel I did. Now, almost two weeks after Helene, she says she has not seen or interacted with any FEMA agents. She did not lose anything though, and maybe that is the reason, but I hear that even people in dire need have not been contacted by FEMA but rather other charities.

Not just FEMA. Our entire federal bureaucracy is bloated. Overpaid. They have golden medical care plans, golden retirement plans and work rolls set up so they don’t work very hard. It used to be government jobs didn’t pay as well as the private sector but they had job security. Now they have the best of both worlds you can’t fire them and they’re massively overpaid. Euro can only get in trouble if they can show he broke a rule. It doesn’t matter if he is effective or not if he gets the needed results as long as he applies the rules in such a manner that there’s no interpretation that his work followed the rules That he is totally protected. Probably up for a promotion. Follow the 10th amendment take all of these rolls from the federal government away whether that is FEMA, Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, farm, subsidies, and on and on and on.

What difference does it make if it’s Harris or Trump. Right now those people need help no matter who is in charge. There are several reports that FEMA was either not there. Or in locations that were difficult to find. A FEMA personnel was asked how they could find them. He said that they should look them up on their phone for assistance. Why was FEMA put into the position of handling the immigrate (Self Created by Gov) issue. Now they cannot handle they typical annual emergency. Someone needs to read the planning guides created over the years. Emergency Evacuation Act of 1980: This bill was introduced in the House on March 27, 1980. It directed the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to create plans to evacuate civilian populations in the event of a nuclear attack. So I am guessing any funds for the initial creation of FEMA has also been taken away.?
