When I first came out as a lesbian to my team mates I would change in the bathroom to keep them from feeling uncomfortable with me there, but they soon started to notice this and one day they all came in to change with me. I had asked what they were doing and then said that me coming out doesn’t change the way they feel about me and that they’ve never felt any ill intentions from me. That was really life changing to me because I didn’t think I’d ever find people as accepting as the people I know today.

Every single time I watch these films about closeted girls in high school tears well up in my eyes. In high school the constant feeling that something is wrong with you, that your dirty and disgusting and terrified that someone will be able to work you out is such a loud feeling. I left school just after I turned 16, yet I'm now 22 and the feeling still sticks with me, deep down. Its still sore. I can still hear the words in my head even down to little comments like before sports when I heard multiple girls used to say 'lesbians should have to get changed with the guys so they cant look at us, and who cares if the guys touch them, maybe itll turn them straight', or watching outed kids being ripped to pieces. Even though its still hard to think about years later, to anyone watching whose still in high school, hang in there, cause one day your gonna be so so happy, and even if you have to search, you will find incredible people along the way who will support you unconditionally

I came out to my close friends a while ago and I'm really lucky to have such great friends that didn't change how they thought of me and didn't change anything in our friendship and even made it stronger. I'm really happy that they accept me and love me in a way my parents won't if they found out. Family can be chosen
