(Don’t mind me, the random classically trained child in the comments.) Can we all just take a minute to appreciate that this girl is belting/mixing a D#? That takes work, man! Those notes in that register do not come easy. They even tire out natural belters! And the F# in head voice came out beautifully. Take good care of that epic voice! Just a random note that has nothing to do with her performance: the annoying part of modulating male songs for female performers is that you end up in these annoying keys (annoying to play). From what I can tell, this cover starts in G# major, then switches to B major, then ends in F# major (I might be wrong). If there is a live accompanist here, I applaud them too. In summary, I applaud everyone involved in this. Wow.

Woah. Vocally, this is absolutely stellar. You have fantastic control here, and it sounds wonderful! May I offer one piece of constructive advice? (I’m a high school theatre coach :) I noticed that you seem to have a gesture you return to- your right hand comes up by your belly and does this circular movement outwards (hope I’m explanatory well) From an directorial perspective, it reads like it’s YOUR gesture (you the artist) and not the character’s. I also have a particular gesture I have to be careful of (I have a tendency to do a claw shape with my hand if I’m not careful), and it reads to me like that, or maybe like you rehearsed your gestures so much, it comes off rehearsed instead of as a natural extent of the raw emotion your voice is clearly showing. I’d love to see this start so still and quiet and see the gestures grow out of Evan’s increasing desperation to attempt to explain himself and real piggyback off of those powerful feelings he’s having. I know internet can read as nasty, so please please don’t read this as me being rude or critical- on the contrary, I think you sound fantastic and have a great presence and connection to this song, and I’d love to see you grow with it and keep it in your repertoire. It’s a perfect key for you, and this is a great performance. :)
