@PotterheadMando3 ай бұрын
@dandywaysofliving I feel it should be a bit more like this: "So, Doctor... What's in your pants?" "An idiot who travels through time and space, armed with only my Sonic Screwdriver, knowledge, and two hearts full of compassion and love for all of the universe. Also, maybe a couple packets of biscuits and a few canteens of water in the pockets, in case I get stranded somewhere without any sustenance for a while. Also... Am I rambling?" "A bit." "Oh. Sorry." "Also, who travels through time and space with only a screwdriver to defend themselves?!" "But it's sonic! (How many times do I have to tell people!)" "Fine, you only have a screwdriver, which is sonic! But how do you fit all that in your pants?! Wait! Never mind!! I DON'T even want to KNOW!!" "What?! Oh! The pockets are bigger on the inside, that's all." "Well, THAT'S a relief!"

That's one of the things I loved about Matt: he could throw himself into that side of 11, but there were also moments where he could let it fall and you could _feel_ every century of his age just through body language alone. Like him saying goodbye to Amy in the Pandorica.

When I first saw the end of time I thought 10 saying to wilf “because that’s who you are” was an insult and even though I think he’s definitely mad at wilf he’s not insulting him he’s pretty much saying “you just had to be a good person and sacrifice yourself” behind that cover up of anger there’s a compliment there i also think he’s jealous in a way he’s mad at himself for having to talk himself into making that sacrifice when wilf just did it with no second thought

@@noatmealcookie02 well, her first series is kind of rubbish. like, my girlfriend, who got me into who in the first place and is still a bigger fan than me, couldn't watch more than half of it, and i get why. jodie was great, when she was given good stuff to work with, but the writing was just... awful. there were a couple good episodes - i personally quite liked the rosa parks episode and the haunted manor episode - but for the most part it's just... not good. and so gf and i both didn't watch the second series until just this week, in prep for the fourteenth specials beginning. and that second series was actually quite good, a six-part big story that still manages to slip in some really good single-episode doctor who episodes into their ongoing narrative. it's not perfect, but a huge step up from the first series. then my gf was going to skip to the third and final special, for the big regeneration story, but i convinced her to watch at least the new years' special, eve of the daleks. she was hesitant because she doesn't tend to like the holiday specials and thinks the daleks have been overplayed and diluted, but i liked revolution of the daleks so had hopes for this one, so she said ok. and then after it was done couldn't stop raving about it. we ended up watching the second special as a result, and that was quite good too. and the grand finale met our new expectations as well! in conclusion. i do recommend watching at least some of jodie's run! feel free to skip the first series. if you're really uncertain, at least the last three specials, get a taste of thirteen at her best. there is good stuff to be had, despite what the first series understandably did to everyone's expectations for anything chibnall touches. thirteen's run really turned around, and i'm a little sad i - and apparently most everyone else - didn't find out until just now. a little sad it came too late to save her. i salute you, unlucky thirteen o7 you're welcome for the essay you didn't ask for, too :p kinda got away from me, this

@@HawkoftheNorthhonestly my mom felt the same way about her, but we're rewatching (well for me most of it is for the first time) all of it, and she likes 13 on the second time around! you have to give something a good faith try before giving up on it, and it's never too late to go back and watch the old episodes! well i mean.. when it comes to doctor who it is too late sometimes considering there are lost episodes
@thefishwillbearmed73914 ай бұрын
@@HawkoftheNorthI think it's great that you've gone back and given it a chance despite your misgivings and agreeabley, some iffy episodes but peppered with some good. A bit confused when you say her second series was a six part story, that would be her third series The Flux, she had series 11 and 12 prior to that (the latter had the haunted house story you mention Villa Diodati, most excellent episode imho). The three festive Dalek specials are pretty ok but I'd never recommend anyone to watch the sea devils one, a real low point before the power of the Doctor, which at least goes out on a high, lots of fan service and a top notch episode for Jodie's finale and run.
