ide swap v1 and v2 preamp tubes to a vintage mullard i63 at v1 and a ge 12ax7wa at v2, this set works for me on any blackface amp.

@@keithclark486 v1 is the normal channel's preamp putting a vintage mullard i63 there will boost the lower mids and soften the highs ,a more balanced tone like a bassman great for single coils and drive. v2 is the vibrato channels preamp a GE has neutral mids big lows and crispy highs great for clean, humbuckers and p90's. rca and brimar are great choices as well each has it's own tone profile but generally warm sounding(more mids than the ge for example) . let's face it for most people the normal channel is useless the mullard creates an alternative that sounds great. i use this set on 2 twin reverb amps that are rented for live gigs and they work great with many different guitars and styles of music .if you still don't want to use the normal channel you can take v1 out and get a nice gain boost at the tremolo channel. enjoy.
