Fender steps out and really creates a brand new guitar and new category yet there are those out there that only find negative. This is a revolutionary new guitar and shows that Fender is NOT resting on its laurels as it has been criticized in the past, heavily. Some will never be happy but my hats off to Fender. I'd buy this but I'm a bass player and yet I'm still tempted... Song title "Dawn of a New Day"
@loganmott78845 жыл бұрын
Alan Scharrer doesn’t Taylor have something of a very similar idea that’s been out for years? I’ll agree with you though. I played one of the old telesonic I think they called them and it was terrible, but I’m not going to judge this too much until I get one in hand.
@alanscharrer52555 жыл бұрын
@@loganmott7884 They did/do but the pick ups do not seem to be as robust as what Fender has built. I think that's related to their long history of solid body amplification and experience with acoustics. I think they started this project as an electric and worked backwards. It just works
@artist91fb5 жыл бұрын
I am sorry Alan but revolutionary is not the term, as many other makers already did both piezoelectric and magnetic signal on the same guitar. An excellent example is the X bridge from Lr Baggs found on many music man Petrucci (quite old idea) and can be purchased to install on your strat which gives you both option and the 3rd option is blending the 2 together. So. It’s not new. Not revolutionary.

My review of the actual guitar: First let me say, I had high hopes for this. I play in a country rock band with lots of guitar changes during our set. This disrupts the flow of the show quite a bit. While I would never use something like this in a studio setting, I saw this as a potential solution for me on stage. I ordered one. When it arrived, I unpacked it and played for about 30 minutes, and decided it wasn’t for me. Why? Well, first the good part: It really does sound great plugged in. There are several good, useable acoustic sounds, and the Tele pickup is also passable. What I didn’t like was the tone/blend knob layout. In a live situation, where I’m singing lead, and trying to switch between electric and acoustic sounds, there is no way, in some combinations, to switch back and forth with ease. It would require carefully switching the 5-way to the right position, and then making sure the blend knob was in the right setting. WAY too much to think about, when the whole point was to try and simplify. This sort of switching might be great in a studio setting, where you have a lot of time to tweak and find just the right sound, as in the video above. But I have great vintage “real” acoustic guitars that I would much prefer to record with... As I said, this was supposed to be for live playing. Also, I really didn’t like the feel of the guitar. I could not escape the feeling that I was playing a Baby Taylor. It doesn’t feel like an acoustic, and it doesn’t feel like an electric... so, does it feel like an old pair of jeans? Uh, no. Look, guitars are very personal beasts. To feel comfort on stage, you’ve got to have something in your hands that feels familiar. This couldn’t have felt more foreign to me. And, it did not have the feel of a high end guitar (read price tag). This felt like something that should be under 1k. I’m sorry to say that, and I’m not one of the “looks new/different and therefore can’t be good” haters who have lined up here to poopoo on Fender’s parade. I’m just writing this in the hope of dissuading people from ordering this online and having to return it; a gamble i wittingly entered into, and lost $114 in return shipping costs. If you think you may be interested in this, GO PLAY ONE IN A STORE. Don’t buy it online. Fender gets extra points for development and innovation. I just don’t think it quite landed. At least not for me. YMMV. Cheers.

I went into a music store today to buy a Blackstar HT-1RH amplifier. While going into their sound room to plug this little 1 watt amp I spotted a Fender Acoustasonic guitar. Since I was going to use a guitar, obviously to test this little amp out I grabbed the Acoustasonic off of the rack close to the sound room. Amp sounded great, guitar sounded very good, neck felt really comfortable, I had the amp turned way down to hear what it sounds like at low volume because that's the way I am going to use it in our apartment. Then I pressed the OD button on the amp with the guitar pickup selector on the 4th position, this I believe is the bridge & saddle together. Well when I pressed that little button with the volume & gain down around the 10 o'clock position I completely blown away by a very loud screeching feedback sound.

Beautiful review and stellar playing/composition. As for the acoustic-electric sounds - they sound almost as good as a proper guitar - the type being emulated - being mic'd with a decent microphone. I'm not a scientist either, but hearing the Lo-Fi setting on the Mexican version, I would guess that the soundhole design has absolutely nothing with the quality of the 'proper' acoustic electric tone - the piezo/pickup sounds just as quacky as every Fishman or other piezo out there. I think the beauty and 'authenticity' of the emulated acoustic sounds comes from the digital circuitry, probably a version of Fishman's own Aura system, which is essentially an IR loader built into the guitar. I have replaced the crappy LR Baggs VTC in my Gibson J-45 with the Aura Ellipse and it sounds very much like the Acoustasonic when on the dreadnought setting.

Will you enlighten us what you mean about "poor"
@MyRealName5 жыл бұрын
@@yagoovirus2751 well, obviously, acoustically poor would mean it's thin sounding and quiet. They never bothered to mic it and show us how it sounds unplugged, and the player uses headphones when he's recording it..
@marin43115 жыл бұрын
@@yagoovirus2751 I mean as an acoustic guitar, it doesn't have a good musical resonance. Even a solid body must have some "tone" while played unplugged.
@herosquadlivemusic48155 жыл бұрын
Sadly on all but the most quiet of stage settings actual acoustic performance counts for very little, it's more to do with what kind of emulation magic your pickup/preamp system is capable of. This guitar seems optimized for playing plugged in at stage volume rather than sounding great acoustically in a quiet room. There are people who would benefit by making that compromise though. No feedback issues, multi-instrument looping performers only needing one guitar, etc.

I just got the player tele. It’s fantastic, but now I want another one! Maybe the strat. Beautiful composition, Joe! Very inspiring. As far as a title goes one word came to my mind as I listened. Galapagos.

There will be a lot of negative comments because it is something new. However I think you will see a lot of this guitar because it is an inspirational instrument. An ideal guitar for musicians that use loopers

it's a crappy acoustic and a crappy electric. good job. fun toy though

I thought it sounded great, what makes you differ? If you don't mind elaborating!
@Sool7375 жыл бұрын
It does sound okay, but I wouldn’t say it is a good idea to try and combine two different instruments, which i think the acoustic and electric guitar are. It could be great for traveling, but it cannot fully be either one of those. But that is only my opinion. Hey, if you think this kind of guitar is great and meets your needs, go for it :)
@valevimoe18315 жыл бұрын
@@Sool737 yeah, I agree on that, but being what it is I'm very impressed by the opportunities you can get with this guitar. I still believe that breaks the concept of it all - its ment to be everything, perhaps for someone who can't afford all the different guitar sounds this one offers, so in turn it also becomes a jack of all trades, but master of none. However, if you really want the sound of a dreadnought rosewood, you'd play a rosewood dreadnought.
@roberthenry69105 жыл бұрын
@@valevimoe1831 I'd really dig this guitar just for the jack of all trades sorta thing at maybe the 1000 ish dollar price range. Seems like a bit too much for what youre getting.

A fender version of a Taylor T5 unfortunately the piece he composed uses a lot of creative masking of how the instrument really sounds It is nice but, this is something that looks great on paper and all its creative abilities are truly IMHO. External

You probably right in your sense. Those tones are *decent* for a guitar like that. They are not great, or "cool", but just fine for it
