The headstock shape, next to the E string tuner, it’s pointy. The Fender one is usually round.

Fender did in fact use neckplate gaskets on their basses. This bass still looks like a fake but not because of the neckplate gasket.

the pickuard alone would have been an instant giveaway that it was a fake. the pots in the control cavity was a definite confirmation.

I believe this style of Jazz bass (70s), if real, would have used the “bullet” style truss rod adjustment at the headstock.
@ManotickGuitarTech2 жыл бұрын
Most likely-I believe they phased out the bullet in the early 80's... I liked the bullet, myself.

Correct. My '76 (bought used in '87) has the bullet.

The first thing I noticed is the natural wood of the body looks exactly like my Dad's Glarry natural wood body. Next thing I thought is that seems like a P neck.

The neck is closer to a P bass...41mm at the nut

The little details are all wrong, just by looking at the serial number font letters, it is a original ali express bass

Since it says Fender on the head stock it is a fake and not a homage. But I ain't mad at it. I am always looking for a project bass.

The neck inlays are not properly proportioned. Also the neck joint looks wrong.

Yes a Z in the serial number normally indicates it was made from 2000 - 2009

If this looks like yours, yours might be fake (excluding the fact that you only mean colors) there was alot of things wrong with this bass it is really unheard of for fender to paint the blocks of the fretboard on to it on lower end models this is normally the case (like squires, but normally the cheaper fender branded basses have dots not even blocks. and fender would never use technology and those pickup holders

@@rorobishop9661 Thankyou Roro, it's a tough instrument anyway, and rarely goes out of tune. If it's fake, it's probably why Sam Ash was so excited about selling it to me. I like it anyway🙂

The tuners are not mounted right...different size gaps between them ,as far as i know USA Jazz's are top loading strings only...all my USA Fender Jazz bass's do not have through holes for strings though mine are all Vintage not Modern nor a plastic thing under the neckplate...Jazz necks should measure 38.1mm across but it seems a bit thick...shame the wooden 3 - 4 ? piece body is not the same shade in colour...i would be thinking it would be a 2 piece Ash body if USA made clear Ash finish not 3 - 4 pieces but it is getting harder to get 2 piece Ash bodies, Fender only use Ash on specific year copies now as the last few years have sadly been bad for Swamp Ash apparently & the painted on inlays is a bit sad...yeah all my Fender bass's are 9.5" radius...you can get flatter compound necks on modern Jazz's... should be Ash but not sure as i would would be thinking it would be a 2 piece body but i have seen 3 piece Ash bodies on modern Jazz's...nice looking bass...yeah some good Fender (i prefer SD Apollo dual coil noiseless p'up's myself as single coils are to noisy) pickups & a brass nut, my personal choice, & it would be good for gigging, not gonna worry so much about it getting a couple of dings as it's a (good looking) copy, nobody is gonna be able to tell it's not a real Fender Jazz when gigging....
