This video sold me on trying these out in person. I did, and LOVED them. Then I got lucky and found one for sale for $650 that had been chipped all around the edges and played hard, but was in perfect playing shape. It has become my favorite guitar. The tones are awesome, easy to play, the slight intonation issues you expect from brass barrels (and also the awesome tone), and bonus authentic relicing on an otherwise indestructible poly finish. Man did I get lucky. Thanks for the awesome demo!

i think with these guitars both maple and rosewood will sound great but i like rosewood ive always found it gives more grunt but if you like a more softer tone go maple, make sure you try before you buy

I’ve watched this video a couple of times- outstanding playing throughout, particularly your touch and tone on your soloing over that loop. How loud does it sound in your studio-ie, have you got that Fender Bassman cranked up along with your volume knob? Wondering if it’s possible to get that kind of tone/sustain in my house without knocking out the walls. Thanks for your advice as always !

I can hear and see why you like the Tele. Sounds great through the bassbreaker 30. That amp takes pedals extremely well. I paired my BB15 with a Kustom floor monitor and at unity it is a great sound. I really appreciate your videos. Thanks. Happy St Patrick's Day. How about an Irish jig?

Fantastic review, Rich, and GREAT playing! I have been been trying out all sorts of guitars, mostly Teles but also several others, and I keep coming back to this very make and model, the Fender American Performer Telecaster Hum...it's just so player-friendly, so smooth, and really well made. I am nearly 100% sure I'm ordering one in a week or so. My wonderful problem to have is I am torn between the Surf Green with Rosewood fretboard and the Vintage White with Maple fretboard. I know I can't go wrong with either, I just need to pick one. Might come down to a coin flip, or I'll let my kids decide. :-)

Great review...how would you rate this for playing Jazz against other Teles...does the Humbuker give it warmer tone that a single coil...and would the Rosewood warm it up...I am playing a new Pro 2 Tele with Maple fretboard and still trying to get a warmer tone ...but I love how teles feel so I want to stick with them...thanks Steve

Regretfully, I sold my Highway One tele last summer, thinking I wouldn’t miss her. But within a couple weeks I kicked myself. This sounds and looks like a more than adequate replacement, especially with the neck humbucker and brass saddles. The only thing I’d add to the Performer would be better tuners.

Don't bother changing the tuners. This thing stays in tune like no body's business (mine does at least). Out of all my guitars, this one is the one I tune the least. My Les Paul on the other hand...

I have one. The way they tap into humbucker via partial winds makes the volume pretty consistent across the 3 selections. Pretty ingenious. The electronics really make this guitar. You can search out a technical explanation if you look.
