Lee is such a good example for players who are in a rut at any age. I remember him not even playing in the early videos, just chappers. Then playing the same stuff for a lot of videos. But now after getting some lessons from Justin/Pete and practice, he's really stepped up his game. You may not realize Lee but you're a great example for us all.

I've never heard Rob so restrained. Maybe he's taken note of comments from viewers on many of these videos wishing that he wouldn't just shred all the time. I think he sounds much better when he lays back a bit, and plays more tastefully.

I think there's a difference in having fun and playing good. If you think in terms of any sport, when you're out there balling you'll do the same tricks over and over cause it's super fun and what draws you into it. But when you're on the field you focus and play smart and not just for fun.
@satchmodog2

Rob hardly shreds all the time, but every time he does, people act like that's all he does. There's any number of videos the past 8 years where he plays some wonderful, soulful music. The Egnater Tweaker and Orange Rocker 32 videos really stand out in the forefront of my memories and there are so many more.

I prefer Danish Pete's playing, shredding is overrated. If you play so fast your notes are percussive, you miss the point. It turns a melodic instrument into a percussive instrument. In small doses it is ok but too much ruins it, the same goes for slap bass.

I much prefer the "Performer" range, even though cheaper than "Professional, mainly because of the Jumbo frets. I have 5 of these Performers and the neck profile is perfect for slightly smaller hands..the feel of the necks are priceless. The Performer Telecaster with Humbucker(my one is aubergine/ purple)gives one some very gutsy Blues tones not even found on much more expensive Teles .

Hey Guys , great vid ! As always love your reviews .... Being a true lover of Strats n’ Tele’s ( cutting boards with a neck lol ), the performer series are awesome special guitars.... Love ‘em The main thing with “Yosemite” pickups , as such, are for lack of better words, tuned pickups or better said, voiced voiced pickups to that guitar maximizing its tone potential. Essentially the in the same way Tim Shaw did to the professional series starts. It really does ring beautifully clean like a true 50’s Strat. And the “Grease bucket “ tone circuit also allows you to roll back the volume without losing the gain structure, especially when you push the signal in front of the amp. Thanks again fellas ! Captain Sir Captain & brother Chappers, Keep up the great work ! Enjoying to the fullest ! Cheers Mates Gunars 🇨🇦

Reverse headstock makes it harder to bend high e, b and g srings while giving them better tuning stability, and reversing that for lower strings. That would be hardly noticeable though and the only real reason to have reversed headstock is looks.
@keesketsers5866
@keesketsers5866 2 жыл бұрын
No, it makes it easier to bend the high e, b and g. The reverse headstock reduces the string length of those strings so there is less tension on the strings (shorter string means less tension, just like on shorter scale guitars...like Gibson). Exactly the reason why multiscale guitars are built the way they are. Longer string length on the thick strings for more tension so tighter bass (important for metal, high gain), and shorter string length on the higher strings to lower tension and making fast playing easier.

Great playing & tone throughout the video! Really enjoyed this one. I"m really digging the performer series, the Strat that Lee's playing in the first half of the vid is incredible. Now I'm keeping my fingers crossed so that Meteora sells OK for them so that maybe at some point they'll introduce a more affordable version of it - for example within the Performer lineup. That'd be sick :)

I like them too, I think they look more "in balance" compared to the body. I prefer the 70's headstock but I think the normal headstock looks great too, it's just preference. I do think Fender should have a guitar line up with 70's headstocks (and not the Squiers) so I think it's a good thing!

Finally arrived! SSS Performer Strat. I've tried Player Series, Player Plus, Vintera Series. Every of these unit had flaws. Even Vintera Modified, which is almost the same price as Performer was setup horribly in the store. Tuners were not in straight line, some screws were askew... Before I bought Performer, I've tried it in two different stores, both units were setup correctly, and finish was flawless. Today my Performer arrived. It was ready to play, looking incredible and sounding awesome. I was hyped for Vintera after I heard MiMs are very good quality, but in my case it turned out otherwise. Cheers.

All the guitars in this range are amazing looking. Except for the Jazzmaster, which has a sinful strat trem. Weird trem of joy or no trem at all!

if you don't like the classic jazzmaster trem, then yet fender sell you one, and if you like it they have other ranges to sell you one also.

They should have kept the Highway 1 (nitro!). These are American Specials with 'new' pickups and colors. Fender just keep rehashing their line to keep it fresh.

Also a reverse headstock makes the high e-string shorter so I believe less force is required to pull it to pitch.

I think it's there on purpose to push people towards the more expensive American strats. They did the same thing with the highway strats (except the first year of them) which were their cheapest US strats 10 - 15 years ago.

mrbigg7255 I’ve got one too, I agree the headstock does grow on you. Didn’t used to like thick lacquer either. Much preferred the feel of a satin finish but again, you get used to it and suddenly it’s the satin neck that feels alien

I think it was about a month ago I watched this video and there was one lick that Rob played that blew my mind but I couldn't work out where it was from. It sounded a little like something from Toto Rosanna but when I listened through Rosanna I couldn't find the lick. Then today I listened to the new Clockwork Wolf & Co album (which is awesome) on apple music and found the lick on Part of the Plan. One of the best guitar tracks of this year! Great Work - also the best playing I have heard from the Captain! Strongly recommend you listen to the EP if you haven't already :)
