I own a P-Bass Pro (Version I) I didn't think there could be any improvement possible but watching and listening to this video, I can see (and hear) Fender nailed it!! I must admit I am a bit prejudiced, I own five Fender basses and I LOVE each and everyone of all! I've been playing Fender Basses for over 40 years, and you couldn't get me to switch!!

Everyone complaining about a slap demo instead of a classy bass line. When you pick up a bass and give it test drive- slap is an excellent way to get a feel for control and over all sound- you get bottom end with high end over tones in one swoop, also one can slap with tone dial in diffrent positions... if slap technique sounds good then there's a solid chance all other tones, styles and techniques will sound just as good. Im no expert musician but I own three fender basses and a few other brands and been playing bass since 1992.

I think the pickups in the Pro II are a bit too hot for both the P and J basses. You hear a bit too much clicking of the strings and fret noise. The older pickups, although slightly a bit noisy (hiss), had a better limiting factor so that you didn't hear too much string clicking, etc

it won't be bad for the neck, if you only drop the E (DADG) string, but if you go into D ( DGCF) tuning you will/might need to adjust the trussrod. But not bad for the neck although no one would want to adjust the trussrod all the time to compensate for this.

They should make the A-necks again, like they did in the 70s. For people with smaller hands it is so essential. They do at Squier, for example the neck of the Pete Wentz is perfect. I want this on a real Fender Precision Bass, too.

@@CNick75 Yes, I think so, but I did not mention it for myself. I have two Fender A-neck Precision Basses from the 70s (one 1974 and one from 1976), so I am very well covered. I just thought there should be a market for Fender to reissue these models. I'm surprised they don't do it. There are reissues of almost all versions of old Fender instruments.

I totally agree with you. I had the same thing with an acoustic guitar that I was serious about buying. All the reviews had people playing in open tunings and playing ninety thousand notes a minute, which was of no help to me. Finally I found a review where the guy played ordinary chords, strummed and fingerstyle, which gave me a much better idea of how the guitar might sound in my hands. I guess Fender would say that it is a pro level bass, being played by a pro level player. But I would still like to hear how it sounds on a slow blues or a Motown number, not just fast slap bass.

@@ezzong Outside of some of the crazy Victor Wooten-type super fast stuff, its not even that hard though. Its more like doing hammer ons and pull offs on guitar. Looks flashy but isn't all that hard to learn how to do.

@@moonlitegram yes that's the point i'm trying to make, people are easily bored of those techniques because many are used not for serving the music, but for showing off.

@@tswrench You're not really addressing my initial comment. Attacking my chops is irrelevant. I can criticize a shitty demo for what it is, even if I suck.

Fender changed product name from standard to pro and raised price. Our money is used for this kind of marketing lol. She is good though.

Nope. The pro is actually different. Its a high end version, with better hardware, bridge etc.
