Me too! I own a telecaster deluxe in Miami blue and the matching strat! Best colour ever. It makes me practice non stop and I never get sick of it and I’m a better player because of it lol

Just bought one these. Maybe it's just me but I'm a 30 plus years strat player and I was so blown away by the tone of this tele I bought it on the spot. No more shrill, or brittle top that required non stop palm muting for rhythm playing. Awesome bridge pick up for rock tones and the neck pick up is great for blues. Great bottom end on all pickups with zero mud. Best Fender guitar I've ever played.

Any advice on whether (as a player, not as an investment) the Pro2 is a better choice than the Ultra?

IMHO the,the pickups are a little tame for a true tele. Another key element is the bridge. Brass saddles keep your time warmer and I find it easier to palm mute on the old style bridge. I was tempted to get the Texas tea Tele, but I had to go with the more authentic American pro

@@mikehickey6256 If you were to choose the ideal Tele pickups, even after-market, what would you install? Not talking about Shawbuckers, but traditional style. Agree, the Texas Tea is kickass, but I think the market is totally saturated with that color.

@@BaconatorJames For straight up all around tele tone,the v mods,for a warmer vintage tone and blues the pure vintage reissue. The lower output vintage style pickups have a lot more nuance then the vmods,but the v mods are still a great all around pickup. Just depends on your style

I just got the Deluxe in dark night with a rosewood keyboard. Had a little work on the nut and lowered the action and it plays and sounds fantastic. Meatier sounding than this model but could split too. Also, rosewood board. Fantastic neck finish. Fender is killing it!

@Luke that hasn’t changed. The volume noticeably dips when you engage the coils so you might have to turn the volume up elsewhere. I decided I wasn’t happy with action even after the work. Hope I won’t need to replace the bone nut, don’t think he went to far, but the action is just too high still for my preference. It’s very playable but for once I would like to have a fender whose action is as good as any of my Gibsons :)

@Luke Tough choice. If you strictly play classic country, I'd go with the single coil strats. I have a couple of other teles, a Squire from Mexico mid 1990s, and it's fantastic, and a 1982 reissue of the 1952 tele (complete with a dark neck pickup) and that is fantastic as well. But this Custom is wonderful too and far more versatile. Not the same as single coils, but they remind me of the P90s on my Gibson SG. Hope that helps. Go to a guitar store and try both.

I've always been a strat 9n the neck pick up for blues but this tele on the neck pick up works beautifully. Even with the gain up you don't have to worry about mud.
