Really surprised at the Fender. I played one at the local GC the other day and loved it. They had that one marked down to $169 that day. I should’ve grabbed it. Nice comparison and thanks for making these videos.

I've had the Fender for 2 years now. It's definitely got slight intonation imprecision and buzzing no matter how you set the truss rod up, but you get character with that. So I'm happy.

Had my cc60s updated with a tusq nut and saddle, this allowed even lower action to my taste. Add some nice daddario 80/20 strings I could not be happier with the instrument and it was easy on the wallet.

I've owned my Fender cc60 s in black for two years first thing I did was put on new tuners Grover milk bottle in gold, I put on bone saddle and nut and tusq bone bridge pins. I use D'addario 13 guage strings phosphor bronze EJ17. The guitar has a warm tone sounds perfect for me. Get those guitar parts have a luthier put them on you will have a forever guitar.

Of the two, the Martin strikes me as more balanced & refined but also more withdrawn. The Fender by comparison sounds a little rougher around the edges but at the same time more alive. It seems to project better than the Martin.

Agreed. I wouldn't be happy spending more on the Martin that doesn't sound any better.

Unless you plan on beating on the guitar, it seems like a huge drawback to use the high pressure glued sawdust body that Martin uses. Glue does not resonate so the more you use, the less resonant the guitar will be. Laminate is layers of solid wood glued together (i.e. still mostly wood) while the glued composite that Martin uses is probably a lot more glue. While in theory it may be more resilient, we don't buy guitars for their resilience, we buy them for their resonance. I want a guitar to sound good in my hand, not just look good on the stand.

I have that model Martin. I thought after being a keyboard player for years, I'd try a guitar. i bought the Martin simply due to the name . So it's now about 6 years and I never learned to play it and for me it was a waste of time and money . It's not necessarily the fault of the guitar. I just think you'd be better off with the cheaper Fender if you are someone just starting because they don't sound that much different to me. And if you end up being a failure at playing the guitar like me, you have not wasted much money.

The martin has a more controlled tone but fender more resonance & sounds louder imo. The martin is obviously better construction but really should sound better than it does for the extra money.

I am not sure.... Surprisingly I think the fender sounded better. You played both which feels better? If fender had the 1,3/4 neck it would be the CLEAR winner.

Even if they were the same price, I’d pick the Fender. It sounds more natural and more “alive”. The Martin is pleasant enough but sounds processed and lacks sparkle.

CD = dreadnough size CC = concert size CD has bigger body size which has louder projection.

Martin ripoff prices as usual. Fender looks and sounds much better.
