Fender Champion 110 DEMO

This is my Fender Champion 110 amp that I am going to demo in this video. I accidentally stated it was a Champion 100. I apologize for that error. This video was recorded on my old iPhone so it’s not the greatest quality. The volume I kept low because my 2 year old son was sleeping upstairs and I didn’t want to take the chance to wake him. You can still get a good idea of the tone of this amp. Please let me know any questions you may have. Thanks for watching.

Excellent explanation of the controls and how to use them. I have the Fender Frontman 25R which seems to react much the same as yours (maybe it's the same amp in a different guise?). The 110 came out right before the Frontman series, so yeah…it’s the same as the 25R. The only thing I’m unsure of… Does the 25R have an actual reverb tank like the 110.

@@Ira88881 Yes, the 25R does have an actual 2 spring reverb tank mounted inside the chassis. I have the earlier black metal grill model but the later 25R (with silver grill cloth) also has that same spring reverb. The short spring factory reverb could ideally really do with an upgrade, that's just my opinion. I prefer to use my Lexicon digital reverbs in my Digitech pedal (both spring and plate types), to my ears they sound much better.

I bought one of these new back in the day. And WAY back in the day, I played a fully valve Twin. This 110 is a beautiful thing for the tones and volume I need. I play mostly clean. I replaced the reverb tank and put an old-fashioned Jensen Special Design speaker in there.

No, you're doing it all wrong. Turn the Gain to ten, leave it there for the entirety of the video, then start playing power chords, like every other Fender amp review. Because that's what Fenders are known for. 😏

It’s a hybrid and uses tubes.

@@Ira88881 The one thing about Fender's SS amps is that their clean sounds really DO sound close to their tube amps. The crunch they get is also very close. The problem is when people crank the Gain, and the company doesn't help when they keep telling players they can play 'Metal' on their amps.

⁠@@Da_Publick That’s it. I’m 67, and played a Twin since I was 15 until I sold it in the late 80s. (Stupid me.) So I picked up the 110 new thereafter, changed the reverb tank and speaker (put one of those highly maligned Jensen Special Designs in there!), and the dang thing does what I want. Because I play 99% clean. I since bought the X2 head and cab just for the heck of it.
