Amazing tone and volume for $200 or so bucks. Great playing that shows its stuff. No pedals needed and light as a feather. Simple with much less 'brain' work. Fender finally nails a 50 Watt modeling amp.

I like the Champion 50xl way better than the Boss Katana or the Champion 40. The clean tone is better and the amp mods and effects are easy to get to. And did I mention 20lbs.

Awesome video man. I’ve been stuck between picking one of these up or getting a boss katana. I love how warm the tone is on this fender, but the versatility of the katana is SO good once you start editing things

Cheers dude, yeah I wanted a katana for ages until I saw the andertons video and I just went "all in" on the clean tones!. Still think the katana has it beat for the versatility, like you say, but two great sounding little amps for budget prices!. Thanks for listening, apologies for my dodgy noodling!!!

Thanks for posting this! Great playing! May I ask why you didn't turn up the gain during the demo? Does the volume increase with the gain up and volume low? I'm interested in this amp and the mustang lt25 for a low volume bedroom amp with some effects and no need to plug into a computer. I have a feeling this one sounds better due to the larger speaker. I actually tried both amps the other day at guitar center and they both sounded good but it was pretty busy and kinda hard to evaluate amp tone when there's six other people around you all banging out power chords on amps cranked to 11.

Killer SRV tones man great playing to, thinking of getting one of these, cheap and sound pretty good. If it were stolen would you get another one or something else? Cheers
@cjgsicknote2 жыл бұрын
In all honesty I'd probably get something else. One of the big drawbacks of this amp imo is its lack of connectivity compared to other popular amps in its range. It does have a good clean tone but would also benefit from a mid control which it doesn't have. Heavier tones are pretty bad but it's the cleans you would buy this amp for. Having lived with it and considered everything I think you can get just as good of a clean tone from other amps that also have more versatility, katana, yamaha thr etc. I'd defo recommend going to a store and trying out all these amps yourself before splashing any cash!!. All the best dude 👍

Dunno if you have ever tried the older (now discontinued) Fender Super Champ X2 and could compare the two based on your memory? The XL and X2 have exactly the same controls/effects, but the Super Champ X2 is tube driven. The X2 has that tube "presence" as you'd expect from a tube amp -- that sort of bassy depth and warmth. Not sure if the solid state 50 XL has that. I also have a Fender Mustang II V2......nice but definitely lacks the tube presence.
@todoclaro9295 жыл бұрын
nice demo, good to know that low volumes still work well.... I wonder if anybody ever compared this one to the champion 40. Is it worth to upgrade? where is it better or worse?
@RogerThat9024 жыл бұрын
I know this is late, but to anyone that sees later. I believe the 40 does not come w/ the Celestian speaker and that's the big difference. I have the 50 and it's great for what it does. I think it's a great option for anyone that's not doing any serious gigging, in which case, you'd probably have something a little higher end. For the money, if you want the clean tones, this is awesome.
@todoclaro9294 жыл бұрын
@@RogerThat902 thanks. i finally got it and it is great. had some issues with the reverb but sent it in an fender fixed it. Now I'm very happy with it.

Hi chris! What would you recomend as pedal platform, this or katana 50? Im using my boss me80 effects and still searching for a nice clean sounding amp.... Thanks!
@cjgsicknote5 жыл бұрын
For versatility I'd go with the katana but purely on clean tones I'd pick the fender, having said that a better option would be a blues junior or bassbreaker for pedal platform purposes. I suppose it depends upon where you play and how loud you can play. If you're at home and need to keep things quiet and are recording then id probably use an amp sim like amplitube4, works well with pedals and will get better recordable tones in that environment. If you're gigging I'd suggest a tube amp over the solid states but they are totally acceptable for small gigs. Thanks for watching, all the best to you!

Good demo but is it silent because I've had the champion 40 and it had a horrible hiss
@cjgsicknote5 жыл бұрын
It seems there is a hiss I've noticed when engaging the reverb, can only turn it off when turning off the built in effects completely, having said that I'm not a massive fan of the reverb in this amp anyway so would refer to a pedal if necessary but it's something they should look into for sure!

@cjgsicknote4 жыл бұрын
Yes mate it does suffer from that hiss when engaging the reverb, the only way around it is buying a reverb pedal and using that instead but it kind of defeats the object!!. Definite flaw!.

Hello Chris! Please spare me two mins. I am a high school student from India. Well I'm planning to buy my first electric guitar(fender player strat)with the money I've saved for the last 4 years. I need a amp under 300 dollars that will take multifx unit well. I just want to use the clean channel from the amp and rest all the effects with a multifx unit. Please suggest me one. I'm really confused as there are way too many amps available for that price range. My budget is tight so I can't go for a tube amp now. Would you recommend this amp as a pedal platform and for that clean tone?
@cjgsicknote4 жыл бұрын
At this price point I'd definitely recommend this amp for the clean tone, takes pedals well enough for what you need by the sounds of it too but you also can't really go wrong with a katana for around the same price. I'd personally go for the katana as its much more versatile but this does have a very good clean tone which 9s what you seem to be looking for!!. Hope that helps, all the best with it!! 👍👍👍

Sorry to bother you again Chris. As I'll be mainly using the clean channel from the amp, if i get the Champion 40 instead of this one, will it make a major difference. (I know this one got a nice speaker but considering the price). Sorry again if my question sounds silly.
@cjgsicknote4 жыл бұрын
@@dipjyoti_guitar im not too sure what speaker the 40 uses but as with most fender amps in this price range the clean tone is its main attraction. Again it should take pedals relatively well but I havent actually played one myself. From what I cant tell I think you'd be OK with the 40 for what you need but best bet is to go to a guitar store (if possible!!) and try them both out!. You might find something you prefer over the fenders too!!.

Nor really in all honesty, I've totally abandoned using it for anything after only a couple of rehearsals with a live band. It's OK for home noodling at low volume and the clean tone is acceptable but it's not a good amp and I wouldn't recommend buying one, at the very least try one out in a shop before commiting to it would be my advice. It probably sounds better in this vid than it actually does in reality despite my poor playing!!!
@Rayzaa1015 жыл бұрын
Those sound great til you turn it up all the way, then it sounds real bad. Can't keep up with the Katana in that regard. I really was disapointed by that too as I was leaning towards this over the Katana..... Then the full volume test ruined it.

There's a video of Johan Segeborn that always pushes amps. Have a listen. I think it all depends on how the amp's dialed in.
