When I got mine, I initially thought maybe the neck pickup was too muddy, being such a hot pickup, but then I lowered it down flush with the pickguard, and BAM! The most beautiful tones imaginable from all 3 pickups... The middle pickup is actually almost down flush with the pickguard also, technically they're the exact same pickup, but it actually doesn't need to be any higher in the middle position for some reason... I was on the verge of putting a 1 meg volume pot in there, and maybe switching the tone pots to no-load pots, but after lowering the neck and middle pickups, no need! The bridge pickup is about 1/4" higher than each of them, and they are all equal volume now. Positions 2 & 4 give you a great traditional Strat-like personality, albeit humbucker style... Love this guitar! Such a smooth tone and really unique look! Very distinctive. So glad to discover this model... And great video!! A high quality amp really brings out the best tones of this amazing mahogany machine, and what better amp is there on Earth than a 65 Deluxe Reverb Reissue! Great playing in this video, as well. Very tasteful. Thanks for posting!

Two suggestions for this guitar, which is a brilliant idea (and about time): Have a master tone pot in the middle, and a volume for the middle pickup on the bottom, so it can be blended in, or used alone, creating 7 positions, including the usual 5 you also get neck-bridge, and all three pickups in together series. That mod is great on regular strats too. I wonder what this guitar would sound like with a once piece mahogany set-neck? I may have to order or build one, now that I think about it!

It’s hella funny because I have an HH S-Type Bullet that I didn’t think I was going to Love, but after I re-did the setup and way way way lowered the pickups I really fell back in love with playing. It was sort of too “Metal” for my tastes too muddy and chunky with the pickups all close to the strings. I think I could use a third Humbucker in it, BUT then again it’s the first guitar I’ve had in a long time that I didn’t have to mod around with all that much, as in none at all

The volume and tone knobs are the same style knobs as what is found on the amp, but they do not go with the gold hardware and body color especially with the knob's silver colored center. The center of the knobs should be all black or gold with no silver. Gold numbers would also look better. Also, the top knob looks too close to the strings and bridge pickup as I would always be hitting that with my hand.
