Good Christ the jam on "Politician" and the section after was just inspired...truly badass. Greg uses his encyclopedic knowledge of riffs, solos, songs, patterns, etc and melds with it improvisational fire & daring better than any player I've ever heard...Gatton & Buchanan included. These Journeyman relics are like what I've always wanted: the look (and more importantly, the feel) of an older 50's Strat ala' "Blackie" with the internals of a modern day Clapton Strat with Vintage Noiseless pickups & the mid boost. Excellent sound.

Great guitar. I'm very lucky to own one of the Custom shop ones (non relic). It's funny because I read that Clapton has a normal tone control installed on his Strats nowadays. Also, he hardly ever plays any pickup minus the middle position
@tw84542 жыл бұрын
not sure where you heard that. the rig rundown a few months back shows he especially still uses the mid boost. What he likes about that is he can walk into any guitar center and pick up his signature strat and get all the tones he wants and needs.

Saying Eric Clapton with any musical equipment named "Limited" is appropriate, 'cause he limited himself. I was local with Bonnie and Delaney, after "Blind Faith" lost sight of what they were supposed to be about. Greg Koch is by far a more versatile and expressive guitarist, with over twice the speed to his playing. Why sellabrate old rock stars when they stopped shining a long time ago?
@aaronperrotta70556 жыл бұрын
Wow are you out of touch of what music is really about. Sad.
@johnwattdotca6 жыл бұрын
Aaron Perrotta! Are you saying that what music is really about also includes promoting yourself as a heroin addict, as Eric Clapton has right from the beginning? Maybe you've been listening to too much Greg Koch. You should go back and listen to the end of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps", to hear vocals and guitars said to be about withdrawals. When "Blind Faith" left Eric Clapton behind after he became dis-functional, Bonnie and Delaney, a local husband and wife rock band, took him and helped him recover. That's not news for me. If it is for you, don't believe me, just look it up. And if you are just one of those American haters and negators online, I'm not sad, you're bad. Listen to Greg Koch. He's a far better guitarist. I can play any Eric Clapton solo with just two fingers. While I appreciate the humour in Gregs' ending riffs, I haven't heard him do Woody Woodpecker.
@aaronperrotta70556 жыл бұрын
John. I never reply online, just saw this and had too. Good music doesn't have to involve technique all the time. It's what u like, and yes I do know Clapton's history and still respect his music. People get second chances. I'm glad u can play his stuff, as can I. Seen him live twice and blew me away, and think Greg Koch is an amazing person, demonstrator and musician as well!!
@johnwattdotca6 жыл бұрын
@@aaronperrotta7055! If there's one thing that makes me outspoken about other peoples' drug use, it's knowing how that kept me on the outside at a lot of venues and gigs. Here in the Niagara Peninsula, when it came time to party for the owners, employees and bands, and when getting paid, it was about going to a private room and laying out the lines of coke. I was never into that. A bass player friend had the John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers album, that had a photo of a Marshall combo on the cover, promoting the amp and Clapton using it. I was jamming Sunshine of Your Love with everybody and still do While My Guitar Gently Weeps. And despite everything Clapton went through, with always promoting himself as a serious addict, when he came out with Cocaine and I was hearing that everywhere I went, that was it for me. Around here, liking a "black man" like Jimi Hendrix, made me an outsider. People in Welland, a city of over 40,000 at the time, a big steel factory city with a lot of French and Italian Catholics, people used to say that there weren't any black people living there. I heard that Jimi Hendrix shot acid into his eyeballs, ate angel dust by the spoonful, yeah... putting him down with talk about the drug use they were doing. You say second chances, I feel like I've gone through many different lives, and that's the way I like it. I'm always willing to start fresh with anyone. Thank you for your very gracious reply. I hope you are in tune everywhere you are. I wonder what kind of band and how it would sound, if Greg Koch started one. I'm not sure I've ever seen him do some r'n'b or groovy minor key rhythms.
