The problem with relic’ing is that it distracts the building team who should be focused on implementing the engineering which contributes to playability and sound. It also adds to the cost of the instrument. I suspect that the relic process might take more time than simply building the guitar per the specs.

19:00 - not just the neck profile, that Strat's more opaque yellow finish and body contours seem to me more like a Sixties just before CBS bought Fender - except of course the one piece neck. It's an amalgam of features I would say like many of these 'revision issues' are.

The Ash body butter scotch esquire has a completely brand new shiny looking pickguard, but I suspect they at least put a lacquered Bakelite one on it and yes that will get a little bit scuffed and scratched little bit of playing, but it should already be pre-worn to match the guitar.

While I can't put anyone down for personal tastes, I will never understand the whole 'relic' thing. I do find old beat-up guitars that are playable cool but would never buy a new guitar in anything other than pristine condition, especially when it carries a premium price tag. All these relic guitars scream poser to me and the inauthenticity (is that a word?) is repulsive. I say that as someone who loves old things that carry a patina that speaks of a life lived. These relic guitars seem like an expression of simulation, however hollow. Ask youself, would Keith Richards buy this? I doubt it. He might find an old an old guitar that has developed a personality through the years that he can exploit with his hands. It might also look beat up. These new guitars will never have that personality. They will never carry the real flaws that bring an individual beauty to the surface. In closing, those are my personal feelings. Please don't condemn me for that.

It’s ironic that Keith unknowingly started all of this “relic” insanity when he ordered one for a concert but specifically needed it to look worn.
@darrenc87764 жыл бұрын
@@RockDrillSuite That's not true. Fender made that up. I've read a few times now that the Keith Richards story wasn't the reason for the relics. It was the custom shop back in 87 that came up with the idea as a bit of a side project never really thinking there would be a demand. I think they ended up taking them to the Namm show and the rest is history

Respectfully no one cares, I don’t mean that in a rude way, it’s already been said thousands of times. You buy what you like, I’ll buy what I like, no ones going to change there mind because of what you think, if you see a video of relics why click if you don like. Cheers

Peter Schattmann I agree with most of what you say as I think a lot of people do but there are many that like the the relics . It’s what the person thinks whose buying the guitar that matters the most. I think my fender player mustang is better than any custom shop guitar but many will disagree with that but it’s what I think that matters the most about MY guitar. I don’t care what others think about my guitar only what I think if you see what I mean.
