I myself did some reverb hunting a while back, scored a 300aud ‘78 Musicmaster bass. Needs some work, especially those damn tuners, it’s in rough condition but nothing that would affect playability. I gotta say being in Australia, seeing these killer deals hurts because of shipping!

Those HMT Fenders are good. Although aimed at metal they were more popular with jazz fusion players. Fender picked up on this and did the same guitar with more normal neck and head. Although Izzy used a HMT early on and people, including Duff, have said Slash used it for ‘Sweet Child…’

Regarding veneers on starts. I had a 1991 Strat Ulta with a bookmatched flame maple veneer top and back for about 20 years. On that particular example the sound was really compressed and muted, most likely in my opinion to that particular top and back. It never resonated like a regular one piece Stratocaster. I have avoided veneers on strats and teles ever since. I expect somebody will tell me that they had one and it was great and there was no problem with it but on this guitar it was a problem. Even after replacing all the pickups with Fender Texas special it never really rang out.

I love thinlines, so much easier on my shoulder, and the have killer highs for effects. If you get a chance check out the fender CS Nocaster reissue, they are pretty cool, built to original spec. I think Joe Bonamassa has one and Keith Richards has a '56 tele. I started out on Gibsons and love em, but a light weight fender with a thick neck plays like butter.

I noticed on one of the ads you were scrolling thru, it said "b" stock. What does b stock mean?
@charlesbolton84715 жыл бұрын
Rick Preston B-stock means that it’s new, but not in perfect condition. It’s usually a term used relating to the finish as opposed to an issue with the pickups, electronics, hardware, or playability. Often, the item has been on display in an actual store and it has a ding or minor scratch. Sometimes, Fender, Gibson, or other companies will sell it as B-Stock to their dealers at a discount if Quality Control has rejected it. I know that Gibson did this often in the 70s and Fender has been doing for awhile as well.

I paid $650.00 for my Jag-stang in ‘17 from a G.C. in CA. No case or trem bar, good condition. A factory case was an option, so if it comes in an original factory case that’s a plus, and a value increaser in my opinion. I found a case for mine them some POS stole the guitar and case from me. If I find the thief that possess it, I’m going to break it over his head. : )

@TheKurtTribute5 жыл бұрын
I wouldn’t personally suggest purchasing a Jag-Stang. When Kurt was collaborating with Fender they never really made it out of the prototype stage, before he passed, and when you play one that fact is painfully obvious. No contours, weird layout, bad features, awkward to play, so on. Kurt’s guitar tech said throughout the years Kurt designed a few guitars, and every single one he loved at first and then realized he left out tons of ideas and features that he ultimately wanted. That being said, due to it being associated with Cobain, they hold their value pretty well. I have a 1996 in Fiesta Red, purchased in around 2013-2014 in a pawn shop for $600.
