It's funny that you can hear the P bass sound on mobile phone but you can barely hear the J.

Cos low mids around 250-300hz are heard best thru small speakers like on your mobile, and P Bass’s have a more Mid forward tone, and a J Bass is much more mid scooped tone

Jazz bass has a more focused tone that punches in a smaller range. Like getting hit with a pool noodle. p bass is wider but softer. like getting hit with a pillow

I think the p bass stands out more simply because it has a more distinctive tone (this may be a bad thing if you want something that blends itself into the mix more seamlessly). P bass to me always has this more hollow, open, woody sound to it, while the jazz bass just sounds like pretty standard, unadorned bass tones

I really like this comparison! When it comes to the lower bassier note, P Bass takes the cake, but the higher notes have been won over by the Jazz Bass for sure!

This even makes me decide much harder whether I would buy J or P bass in the upcoming purchase. I love how P bass pronounces its warm and deep low tone but the J bass can provides a crisp high notes, another interesting tone for playing some solo. Anyway, thanks for this realistic on-the-mix comparison. Excellent work!

Thanks for making this comparison video. The lower notes on the P bass stand out more and sound better in the mix but the higher register, the J bass won out!

Jazz has a better growl, more presence. P is thicker. Jazz all day. Also have pressurewounds on my Jazz, love them.

Not to make a generalized conclusion; but in this mix, P-Bass is heard much better and clearer. Jazz gets a little lost and/or muddy.

@@ninodjuras I have a slight preference for the P-Bass. This may be biased by the genres I mostly play. Your Jazz excels in the high register.

Can you do this, but with the same kind of string? The jazz pops out more which I'm sure is due to the type of string you're using.
@ninodjuras2 жыл бұрын
Hi Arthur, that's was not the point of the video, I tried to use their best strenghts, Jazz with roundwounds and both pickups, P bass with flats and tone closed a little to blend better. 👌🏻
@arthuraguirrejr.95002 жыл бұрын
@@ninodjuras understood. Its just not a fair match. I was wondering why the P wasn’t popping out more and it was because the strings weren’t the same type. Great playing tho.

First off, really tasteful playing! You’re getting great tone with YOUR fingers. I have a jazz bass and was rooting for it, but in THIS comparison with these settings the P sounded much better in the mix. I would love to hear this the bridge pickup turned down low on the J bass.

P bass is more muddy. J bass is more modern and better in the mix
@danadane25013 жыл бұрын
The jazz bass has a much more cut in the mix . Which gave the lower notes a lot more character whilst in this department the p bass gave it more of a notable rumble . Also on the higher notes the p bass while not as pronounced had a much smoother sound than the jazz . Someone else almost exactly the opposite on your comments but it just goes to show we dont always interpret music the same way . Nor hear it the same for that matter . Excellent job btw .

Jazz bass is has more "modern" sounds In my opinion, jazz bass is suitable for music in this era Yet P bass has it "classic" vibes I like the traditional sounds, and it feels "authentic" in the mix But if i only had 1 to choose, i will choose jazz bass for its versatility Thanks for the video!
