This is an excellent demo why serious bass players should own all these three types of basses.

Stingray 2:05 - 3:03 Jazz 2:23 - 3:18 Precision 2:40 - 3:34 Three very different kind of slap sounds! And Obrad is one of the best bass player on youtube, I like that he never makes overplaying

All 3 basses have a sound of their own. The Precision for that fat bottom, the Stingray for its tight mids, and the Jazz with fat treble. However there's the matter of the tone settings on each bass. And let's not forget the Precision has 2 pickups in the center of the body. The Stingray pickup is by the bridge. The Jazz has 2 pickups at the neck and at the bridge. Both the Jazz and Precision have split coil pickups; the Stingray has a dual coil humbucker. Each bass has its sweet spot. I own a Precision and a Jazz. I should get a Stingray and do my own test. Nevertheless it was a good sample size. Thank you for the test because it will help bassists decide what what type of sound they're looking for in a bass

The 2nd phase of the test for me would be the tone control. This controls how much tone is fed into the amp. There's the settings on the amp. I would say for anyone making a bass comparison to set up your amp. Set the e.q. to zero. Play each bass and adjust the tone control on each bass by 10% . Start with the lowest setting and work your way up. To support your results, record it. Now you have data that's valid. Do this with every technique you know. Some can do this easily; others need to be a bit more thorough. Do this and make your own evaluation. Once again, thank you for the video. Bassists, there are many pickup configurations besides the samples listed. Whatever works for you, then that's your bass.

@@ericmiller5384 Watch some of mine Amp comparisons. I have done all You said. This one is however just comparing the basic sound of three most popular basses.
In slap jazz wins but my option is always stingray

Never particularly a fan of (Passive) Precision Bass slap. It’s much better when paired with an active circuit and a Jazz Bass pickup in the bridge position. I’ll take an active Stingray over the passive Jazz Bass unless I really need the old-school passive Fender Jazz Bass sound. If you were to try an ACTIVE Jazz Bass, the sound between it and Stingray would be closer and a harder choice, while still sounding characteristic to each instrument. Maybe an interesting comparison???

a Precision Slap is what you heard in every 80ies Disco record. It shaped our collective memory :-) but I am a Jazz Bass guy too
