EVH amps are pretty damn good for drop tune stuff believe it or not. I use a Ibanez Rg with a super cheap emg in the bridge that i put an extra bar magnet on. It has a tele pickup in the middle and a quad buck we in the neck. Master volume and a on-on style killswitch. It has a floating trem. I use a fender champion 40, treble and bass all the way up, on the tweed distortion setting, drive all the way down and a pedal with a distortion setting that I created myself. Pinch harmonics all day. Drop G# on my 7 string sounds siiiiiicccccckkkkkk.

when I do metal, I use my Washburn SuperStrat made from carbon fiber. they sound great.

I have a dream of finding a few other like minded people who want to specifically play progressive metal/djenty music using only fender gear. Custom shop ag 7 string strat, bass vi, baritone tele or jm and 5 string basses all through custom super/twin reverb, old super sonic 100, or bassman full stacks. Every gig has a massive wall of fender full stacks and a museums worth of rare fender gear.

Trevor Peres of Obituary has for years uses a JCM 800, a proco rat pedal and a Fender fat stratocastor. Seems to work. Same with Dom Landolina of Code Orange, Slipknot's Jim Root or Andreas Kisser of Sepultura. They all use strats.

By your logic the Solar Duncan Designed pickups are crap because they are the overseas version of the Custom 5 but people that have reviewed those guitars LIKE the pickups. Now you're changing your argument from the guitar to the pickups. Well, it's a more affordable mod to change pickups on a MIM or a Squier than a Prestige Ibanez or an actual ESP.... that use the same EMGs (like on the Jim Root Strat you see here) found on Korean & Indonesian LTDs anyway so.... John 5 plays D Activator pickups on his Teles and those are cheap DiMarzios and he has the budget to try anything... It's not the guitar, it's the player (you)... Plus this video is aimed most likely at people who are learning guitar and this is your basic content marketing videos that all enterprises make to create a more casual relationship with target audience.
