@@MrJeffwards have you played an Ibanez RGIB21? That guitar’s neck feels like it’s actually a baseball bat that was cut in half. It perfectly playable and a great guitar, but it doesn’t feel as nice as one with a thin neck. That’s my preference anyway

I'm a tried and true fender guy myself, I have limited runs of things they've dropped, but a 7 from them has been on my list since I snagged my neon orange double fat strat in 2005. Glad you were the first man, you pioneered a genre, and couldn't be more deserving of it! Hope to snag one once fender runs these as production models.

Nuuh, Kurt would never lay a hand on a seven... Small necks was the main reason he loved mustangs and his Jag. He played strats mostly out of necessity as he could find left hand guitars.

brother this is literally the thing ive been dreaming up for years. I believe the only other fender 7 was a squire, so i imagined a wider neck profile, and it having a super versatile set of pickups. I knew they were gonna venture into the extended range stuff sooner or later and believe me, this thing is gonna sell like fuckin hotcakes everywhere. Im gonna need one of these to try out real bad. Gratz' on this huge step into the future.

@@JAREDHALLSUCKS Alex Gregory had a small run of custom shop strats that were seven strings, back in, like, 1990. So Fender was making seven string strats back when Ibanez was just starting the Universe line. Gibson was in on the 7 string early adopter game, too. But these custom shop short runs were tough to obtain then and basically unobtainable now, whereas Ibanez did standard production and dumped a ton of money into marketing. So we all know Ibanez and the Universe, and Fender and Gibson seven strings are just a footnote. Also, Alembic made a seven string solid body guitar about ten years before all of this, but no one knows where it is now.

I think Fender is killing it in the modern department the last few years. First with Jim Root and now Chris and a few others. I like that we’re seeing better, newer stuff coming out of Fender now. I still rock my Tele sometimes and it slays with metal leads. I love the blacked out aftermaths in Chris’ axe though. Killer pickups for a 7-string

@@andrij.demianczuk just make sure you spend around 2 or 3 grand. Spent a 1k on a guitar and it pisses me off enough won't buy from them again. Worst fret job I've ever seen in my life. Pickups bunk but can replace them. If they get their QC in check then yeah, but hell I mean with Ibanez, and others doing better. Even my AZ sounds more fender than my strat

I'd absolutely love to see Fender make this. I've more or less accepted that I'm a Strat guy. I went through all kinds of superstrats only to end right back up at a nice American Pro II HSS Strat as my main guitar. They just feel right to me - and that thing, stock humbucker and all, can sound absolutely fucking brutal without much effort. I love my Ibanez RGD 7 string too, but the idea of a proper 7 string Strat sounds like a dream.

I've been reluctant to pay for a custom shop, though, to get one. I guess, I should look into it because the only other, lefty hardtail, I've seen was a vintage 1972 and a Robert Cray signature. In 25 years, I've maybe used a whammy bar, 3 times lol. But I play metal, so, I don't want to buy a vintage guitar and have to modify it...

For low- to no- light playing, one may consider fret dots made of tritium, the same stuff used on night-sights on guns. Needs no light to activate and lasts around ten years before needing replacement.
