Looks and sounds great. FYI : After Leo sold fender, a few years later he was the CEO of the newly created Music Man, and then later went on to make G&L He spent his life in all the various instrument makers and parts makers as well. I like most of their line up especially with the G&L pickups.

In the early 80s, I was doing repair work in a Salt Lake City guitar store. The owner said he had Leo Fender and George Fuller on the line. Their bass guitars were blowing pre-amps. He asked me to have a look. it took me about 5 minutes to see the problem. Mr. Fender did not know enough knowledge about basic electronics to know that the "Linear Cookbook" was only a basic reference manual. He made a pre-amp that would cease life if plugged into certain poorly designed amps, mostly Fender amps with the polarity switch. The next day, a fax detailing my fix was sent world-wide. I asked to speak to Leo Fender but was transferred to Fullerton, who hung upon me. So much for the legend of Leo Fender,

@@raoulduke344 Probably the Comanche. Leo’s Z-Coils are the most underrated pickups in the universe. I also really love the ASAT Special semi hollow, which has big MFD pickups that almost look like P-90s. The alnicos on the Legacy are fantastic for more old school Strat sounds, and the MFDs on the S500 are a little thicker & warmer. If you visit my KZbin channel you’ll hear all these guitars.

Got me a G&L ASAT Classic (Fender sized pickups). I've got Fralin Steel Poles in this thing. It was beat to hell when I bought it, and even more so now. G&L is probably one of the most underrated guitar brands. I bought an ASAT Special last year and I love the Jumbo MFD pickups and the Saddle Lock bridge (both constructions of Leo Fender that are only available in G&L instruments). Lots of resonance and sustain and a unique sound and the guitar feels, plays and looks great.

G&L makes some of the best guitars and basses on the planet, many of which could reasonably be considered the "ultimate" versions of their Fender counterparts. They have guitars with virtually any kinds of traditional pickup configurations one could want, but they also have some pickups that are exclusive to their brand and produce sounds not found in literally any other guitars. Leo Fender innovated until the very end, and his legacy (no pun intended) is alive and well at G&L. Def check them out if you haven't already!

G&L's have always been great guitars from the start, can remember them from way back when I started in the 80's. They literally were an 'evolution' of Fenders. But they were still very clearly based on Fenders, and to this day I think they're still underrated. Had they been more of their own design, or something more distinctly different like a PRS (which still obviously borrows from Fender/Gibson), maybe they would have been a more prevalent name like those. But Leo was doing what he knew.

I’ve come to the conclusion that the best guitar is the guitar you like the best. Because it really doesn’t matter and some of the greatest and most iconic players just seemed to play whatever they had lying around or they didn’t cost a great deal of money. It was all pretty much irrelevant as it’s really all about the music and not about the guitar. Having said that, having a guitar that you love, is really important. I made my own Fender Strat vintage partscaster and that is definitely my favourite guitar. So it is therefore the best one.

Congrats on your purchase. It's beautiful. I love G&L. I never knew the back story, and the obvious G&L logo, being George & Leo, I have just learned now. (thank you) It totally makes sense why these are excellent instruments. Just a little heads up, I recently was wanting to buy a cheaper brand guitar recently. One that, I would obviously need to change out electronics and most probably machine head tuners. I went on my amazon search, and found a few companies, and read the specs, and the response from others regarding customer care, and then searched youtube for peoples channel that did demos on these models. I was striking out, cause it just looked like, "you get what you pay for", and/or, "don't waste your money". But then, to my surprise, I got lucky, not once but twice. I saw a brant called, "Eart", and they had a strat style guitar selling at that time for, $175. I read the specs and I couldn't believe what I was reading. body wood made of mahogany and Alder, and roasted maple neck with double truss rod for stability. bone nut, and stainless steel jumbo frets(yes, ....stainless steel.WTF?). etc.... I couldn't believe it, this had to be a scam, how could they make money, selling this cheap, and offering this type of quality. So I did my final search and, went to youtube and watched demos of this guitar, and low and behold, every damn one of the demos, the reactions was dis belief. these guitars are excellent, right out of the box, and not just saying, its a great buy for the money, but these are great guitars. I bought one, and was so floored, I bought a second one immediately. I never solicit myself, with any gear or especially and instrument, but I just couldn't, let this by without telling other players out there. If you're on a budget and looking for a great instrument, check it out. I promise you, wont be dissatisfied. The other company, same type of experience. i wont go into the whole specs and blah, blah, blah.....the instrument is a tele (their basic tele called Virgo) and the company is "M Musi" . I believe I paid about $300. It's an excellent instrument. Cheers!

Great video, I currently own 2 G&L's - An American Legacy Special which I ordered direct from the factory in 2004 (still my number 1) and a more recent Asat Classic Fullerton Deluxe. I love em - headstock is cool. Agree the candy apple red is gorgeous. Liked and Subscribed. :)

I have 2 G&Ls -- one Semi--hollow ASAT and an S-500. I love both of them. The ASAT is a special double bound purple Tribute model and it is super resonant. The s-500 is a spec-order I did and it's lovely; I really did the expander switch on it and like the trem bridge on it better than the Fender s-style bridge.

G&L is my favorite brand. Tributes are amazing values! I have a Tribute pink Doheny and placid blue Legacy and i have never been this happy on a guitar ! I love everything Leo did ( fender, music man and g&l, I really hope the guy was nice )

All of the variations were great, but the clean with a little reverb almost made me weep. It really is a beautiful instrument!

Hi, Mike! Greetings from Argentina. I was in Connecticutt in 2018 and bought a 2010 G&L HB Legacy usa from Guitar Center at a great price ( I guess because in the pics from a bad phone it looked fucsia instead of the same gorgeous red as yours. Prior to travelling to USA I've seen it on the website standing for months without being sold. I guess it was destiny it finally got in my hands. ) I never played a G&L before, but the moment I did fell in love with it. Mine has a Seymour Duncan JB with a split coil switch at the bridge. It makes this axe incredible versatile for a top 40 guitar player as me. SInce I grab the G&L it became my main axe. I have many others, Gibson LP, american vintage Strat, a Tele, but I always end up taking the Legacy to my shows.

G&L F100 was my first electric guitar back in the late 80’s. It was a custom order for my dad that I got when he passed away. I had just been playing about a year and a half. Amazing guitar. I would take another one in a second.

I bought a lefty F-100 in 1981 for my first electric guitar, red with a maple neck. Still have it.

I bought my first G&L used after realizing the ergonomics of a strat were better than a 335. It was a used Tribute Legacy that someone had buggered the wiring on and once it was repaired it was awesome. Then I found a 2011 CLF HB Legacy and later a March of 1982 S-500 theta has Leo’s signature in the inspection markings inside the guitar. The S-500 is the early one with the Skyhawk body shape and the old style big MFDs. It sounds great and very different from the HB Legacy. And for my final act of crazy I build a copy of my Legacy but used wood from my farm including 150 year old extinct American chestnut cut from a hand hewn barn beam. I think you have a great guitar and G&L supports them well. Love your playing and your channel.

A local music store had a G&L bass it was their jazz bass in a purple kind of sparkle. Really surprising sound and feel.

YES! I bought my first G&L Legacy USA about 15 years ago when I was looking for a great S style guitar and have never looked back! One of the best trem bridges on the market…the features you get for the $$ made it the obvious choice over Fender for me. Oh, and I do like the headstock!

I remember visiting a vintage guitar store close to home and seeing an 80s G&L F100 in all black. I thought to myself, "Holy crap, that is a sick guitar." I've been looking for a decently priced one ever since. I also recall another time a few months ago picking up a G&L Tele (idk what they call em) and being amazed by how well-made it was for the price point.

Enjoy your videos. Thank you. I have owned a G&L ASAT Classic for about 20 years. It far outshines every Fender that I have owned or played. The headstock never bothered me. If it was good enough for Leo then it works for me.

my best sounding guitar is a g&l bluesboy. i was going to buy many more g&ls, i joined a g&l forum on line, an owners group, and it was so full of assholes, especially the mods, i never got another one. i was going to sell mine, but i can't, it sounds so good.
