The sound depends on the amp/speaker system or soundboard (and the sound engineer). If none of those factors are good quality, the Squier bass will not sound as good as the higher quality basses.

The sound that I really like out of a P/J is the tone rolled off just to 2 or 3, the neck pickup full-on, and the bridge pickup at 50%. The neck pickup gives you the traditional P-Bass sound, the bridge pickup gives you some added clarity, and rolling off a touch of tone smooths out the high end. Also, I like that you guys review everything regardless of price point. Very cool.

Just if anyone is wondering I noticed there seemed to be 2 versions of this bass floating around with the same model number 0370500506. Year of switch over is somewhere in 2019. Made in China (SQUIER P-BASS) on head stock and Made in Indonesia (SQUIER PRECISION BASS) on head stock. From what I've read Indonesia is the CORT plant and produces better guitars. I emailed FENDER and below is their response. "Thank you for contacting us. The old country of origin was China, the new models are being built in Indonesia. If you ordered one now, you'd most likely get an Indonesian model unless a company has back stock of the Chinese models."

I got some Indonesian-made Squiers and they’re pretty great quality for the price. I kinda don’t like it that they printed the by Fender part on the decal typed FENDER. They should’ve kept the cursive logo like what you’d see on the 2002-2018 Squier Affinity guitars. Other than that, they’ve made some improvements over the years. Thanks for the information.

I just tried one out as a bit of a laugh, as i was trying out the Player and more expensive Fenders. I was really surprised. It's damn good for the money. If you're starting out and want something decent, you can't go wrong. You'll want to dress the frets a bit, spend a bit more to have it set up. Or, if youre like me, learn to do it yourself. If you screw up, you aren't tossing 3 grand out the window. A little tlc, and this bass will serve you for years.

The Jazz Bass sounds dope to me. IDK why. Most slap players I know use Jazz Basses. I also prefer its less warm tone if you know what I mean. I'd also prefer MM Stingrays over Jazz Basses anytime though. My best advice is to try knowing the "tone" of your bass idols if you have one and see what bass is suited to that "tone" you want to emulate. Otherwise, try describing what sound you hear on the bass and see which one fits your taste in music.

@noesunyoutuber7680 3 жыл бұрын
@@cnoriga There's a few options. I'm not sure if noiseless Jazz pickups exist, but they make them for single coils on guitar so there might be an equivalent for bass. Just swap the original pickup with the noiseless one if it exists and you won't get that hum (they're basically humbuckers but with the second coil underneath the first rather than next to it, so it doesn't pick up anything). A noise gate will also work since the noise is most noticeable when you're not playing, so the gate will mute that. There's also the EHX hum debugger, a pedal-style device that kills hum while allowing the original signal to pass through without too much manipulation, but I can't say it would certainly work here.
