I've had a paranormal jazz bass for about a year now, and this is the first video of these that I've seen anyone actually do in-between tones with the two tone controls, bravo! Every other video on KZbin talks about the versatility, then just demos it like they could a regular jazz.

Anthony, thanks again for taking my order the morning after this video aired. I want everybody to know how thorough you guys were. Having the bass set up done by you was a HUGE relief from me having to find a luthier here in small town USA. Could not believe how surprised I was to get an email from Joe three hours after ordering the bass with a tracking number & told that it had already been set up & shipped out. Nobody else I know has that short a turnaround time! I'm a subscriber to this channel & am telling other musicians I work with about Empire Music. Thanks again!

This bass has a nice clean tone, to be a passive bass it got punchy muscle and I am impressed with the instrument.

Hi man and thankyou ! I am in the UK ,and I was looking at one of these ,but I found it difficult to find a review done by someone who a) can play ) and b) talks about the bass honestly and doesn't just sound like they're reading a card of specs. Thanks so much.I ordered one on the strength of your information and demo.

@@EmpireMusicPgh Thank YOU Sir ! I am in your debt.Mine arrived yesterday ,and I have not put it down. You are totally right about this bass - the quality is superb ,and the sound and feel are just brilliant for the money (it cost me £327 here !) And the setup was perfect too ! Thanks again for nailing it for me. And by the way - I love that when you play you look as though you can SEE the groove ...way over there ! You're INTO it when you play .Great to see ,and RE-SPECT !

Fantastic demo mate, thanks for sharing, this was super helpful. The setup sounds amazing, as so many other demos of this rig has fret buzz all over them, so again, thank you for the clean tones. Really helps me understand how this would fit into the studio (versus playing live) where there's no getting away with a buzzed out sound.
@thebassfreak53703 жыл бұрын
Do you know how they canceled the fret buzz?
@hellodavidryan3 жыл бұрын
@@thebassfreak5370 My original comment was in praise of the wonderfully skilled playing (Anthony?) and the great setup this bass has had. I don't mean disrespect to other bass demo videos, but often the guitar store chain demo videos are either shown by guitarists who inadvertently rattle and buzz, or else they're digging in so deep while playing that it just doesn't do justice to the actual tone. I really appreciate this video style and inspiration in general.

i am very happy with my order! good news all around! i am ANXIOUS and excited to have it delivered to me! and my initial reaction when i saw it was a feeling of curiosity and confusion lmao, and it just stuck in my mind and everyday i was like "wow that is a unique bass", and then about 3 weeks ago i had the guts to buy it after i saw LowEnd Lobster review it, and wow i immediately fell in love with it and his review made my mind about buying it without hesitation! Ohhhh man I'm excited!!!!!!! (And I'm gonna have a ashtray bridge pickup cover installed on it to get a little 60's to it!)

I love what Fender is doing with these. Yes, the classics will always be there and will always be popular. But once in a while, you might want something else than a strat, tele, P or J. We had the Sixty-Six a few years back, now this. I like it. Not enough to buy it, because I would prefer if they'd stuck a P neck on there. But still, a great bass and, as always, a very nice review. I like that you show the pricey stuff (custom shop, original series) but also the more affordable options and can get just as enthusiastic about a $400 Squier as about a $4000 '58 custom shop.

I hear nothing but good things about this new Squier paranormal Jazz bass, I hear its going to knock the vintage modified off the top spot of the Squier bunch. Gonna have to try one and see how good they are and possibly add one to the pile.

Just bought this bass, as expected it needs more setup work than your average $900 Fender but that’s to be expected. Long story short - and I’m not joking - this has replaced my Fender Road Worn P (easily $1100 something new) as my new number 1.
@hellodavidryan3 жыл бұрын
Could you elaborate a little please on the extra setup? Do you mean it needs more setup due to being on the cheaper Squire end of things?
@bridgefan873 жыл бұрын
@@hellodavidryan what I did with mine was, upgraded the tone resistors, hi-mass bridge and not needed but I wanted the vintage reverse tuners. The neck alone is one of the best I’ve ever played. With the bridge and tone resistors $70 bucks gives you a huge improvement to an already great bass. It really gives my $1500 fender Jazz a run for its money.

I like the bass , it seems like the pickups are moved more towards the neck then the standard jazz bass configuration . as far as hardware goes the basic hardware works well for me , the mexican and classic are virtually the same. I do notice a difference in my american fender basses.

Nice... but would have preferred a P Bass neck with the Tele type headstock and a slab body....But am really nit picking really. With a proper Fender neck, stacked pups and a high density bridge would tick all my boxes Changing the pot values could give the ability to bleed off some of the excess top end... Though I like what you’re getting out of it... I’d buy one.

I actually have this bass. Unless I'm missing something once you get the sound you want with the 2 tone and 2 volume knobs and then you want to increase that volume without upsetting the mix you can only do that by raising volume on your amp. This bass begs for a master volume knob!

@EmpireMusicPgh4 жыл бұрын
I think you will notice a slight difference sonically with a split coil in neck position on the Jag. The biggest factor will be - are you comfortable with the offset body style? I can't answer that one for you. I personally feel more comfortable with something like this, but purely an individual choice. Both are awesome basses for the $$. Hope that helps - Anthony

Love it, but sonic-wise how is it different from a regular jazz bass?
@patrickfitzgerald28614 жыл бұрын
Since he didn't answer I'll tell you that between the two stacked knobs, the pickups themselves and the pickup placement the tone is likely very different. You'll need to try it yourself and see. In my opinion it needs a bridge upgrade, but so does the MIM J bass, and that's an easy and not too expensive fix.
