Great mod project and fantastic tones! I personally love my strats - they're just so versatile and easy to mod. My only gripe is that the volume knob is too close for comfort when playing rhythm guitar, but a different pickguard or rewiring to 1 volume/ 1 tone should do the trick. There is just so many things that Leo Fender got right when he designed this guitar in the 50s that its design holds up to this day

Usually, Mexican strats bodies are made up of two pieces glued together. I buyed one several years ago and my luthier told me that mine was made from 1 single piece of wood, so, very nice, and makes sense, it feels a lot more heavy than other strats owned by friends of mine!

Must admit, I only came across your channel because Chappers decided to share “his truth” this time last year. I realise you must’ve got a lot of hate en masse from his supporters, but I for one really appreciate your honesty in all aspects of your video making (audio disclaimers about mic placement/variables are so important!) So from an English guitar nerd masquerading as a professional singer, thank you and I hope you have a great new year 😊

My guitar is a Warmoth body+reverse neck strat. I ordered them unfinished - everything else was done by a local luthier. Couldn't be happier. Only wished I've ordered a hollow body. It was oiled and now weighs a ton. But the guitar is a beauty and costs a lot less than any premium guitar, while being a total custom.

The old Mexican Standards are great platforms for building a custom guitar. I’ve done a few up and made gig guitars that I don’t have a ton of money in (just in case they “walk off” from a bar gig) that sound and play great. The pots and switch were actually good in them too although I never cared for the stock pickups. New pickups, a good brass block trem and a setup does wonders for them and I’ve picked up a couple for $250-$300 so not too much for a good base.

@@richardharrold9736 Sure, but if that's the case, buy a HH Strat. I'm just saying, gutting a single coil strat, you lose that glorious single coil tone, that maybe you only appreciate after 40 years, like me. Why is their pink tape on the nuts of your guitars? 💀🤦‍♂️
@JacubWhite38
@JacubWhite38 2 ай бұрын
It's not tape, it's a small bit of fabric that you wrap around the strings above the nut. Sort of like a little necklace. Some guitars make a little noise above the nut when playing, which is generally hard to hear but can be much more audible on a recording. Those little necklace type things help reduce that noise by muting the strings above the nut.
