Excellent presentation and wonderful picking. I love the tortoise binding and the color of the body. Fralin makes outstanding pickups great choice.

Very Nice Gary, Certainly glad I happen to run across your video. I have just ordered the LF blues pickups and I like the 280K pot. and ordering it today. I do have my body built and my neck close to being finished. However I already have a Wilkinson bridge that I will use with the 3 brass saddles. I do like the Tone and sound. Nice playing.

Great playing, and beautiful guitar! I just ordered the same model/color from Reverb. I would prefer a non-painted headstock, but it's not a showstopper. I'm not a big fan of the Fender Noiseless Pickups either (unless you use it primarily for recording), so I'll probably switch the pickups out as well, most likely for Lollars.

Try adding a 0.001mfd cap across the volume control between the terminal from the switch and the output jack. You’ll love it in the middle position at about a 5 on the volume pot. Beautiful playing by the way!

Great pickups! I love your Peter Florence pick ups in your black telecaster. These lindy fralin are an upgrade from the stock noiseless in my opinion. I had the fender ultra guitar and sold it because I didn’t like the pick ups and neck. Great videos

I would have bought another set of Voodoo TE60's if they were available anymore. Interestingly, after listening back to this clip, I didn't like the clean bridge PU tone. Too trebly. I may try something else. The middle PU position is great on these however.

@@gair1944 love your videos and your amp and telecaster collection. Is your other butterscotch telecaster a custom shop and what are the pick ups in it? That guitar sounds great too! Honestly I like the ultra lux better with the lindy fralin pick ups.. did you install them yourself?

@@gair1944 To be honest...they've been a curse. I now ignore my other 20 plus guitars...even my new Pro II Tele. LOVE the tone so much (especially neck pup!!) I've now returned to my Tele roots from my college days in the early 80's. My new ToneKing Imperial hasn't helped matters...nice amp with CreamBack replacement speaker. Picked up another CV50 last week (Purple color from Andertons) to drop a set of Lollar Special T to compare. Stoked. Oh, I remove neck pup from tone pot...it really improves tone, clarity, output.

I've been called crazy more than once. Ultimately, this was an experiment. Put the guitar back to stock. Prefer my Custom Shop 63 Tele and sold the Ultra Luxe. It was fun. Great guitar that is featured packed at the price point. Ultimately didn't have the soul or personality of my Custom Shop. (Somewhat expected)

Oh man, that's awesome. I am LOVING this Columbia so much, it makes me want to try a Deltone. But I really don't think I'll need the Deltone. This Columbia is going to get a lot of gigging time. Once I take it to shows I'll get a better idea if I want to try the Deltone.

I have the same exact guitar and it a beautiful guitar and the neck and SS frets are a pleasure to play. I have not been happy with the pickups since I bought the guitar and plan to upgrade them soon. Also unfortunately the nut my guitar came with has the slots too low from the factory and I need to find a competent local luthier who can replace it at the same time I’ll finally swap the pickups. How much difference do you feel the new bridge and control plate make? I was thinking of keeping the stock bridge and control plate, is there enough benefit to swap both of them too? I do like the ability to individually intonate the strings and the S-1 switch to go from parallel to serial is a nice feature?

Great question. In hindsight I would keep the stock bridge and control panel. Definitely. I agree the intonation with six saddles is superior

Sounds great, but couldn't you achieve the same with those upgrades and an MIM tele? Seems extravagant to use a premium guitar for a mod platform.

It's a fair question. I have yet to find a MIM Tele that is 7,6 lbs with rolled fingerboard edges, stainless frets, locking tuners, Satin urethane tinted finish on the back of the neck and an amazing 10-14 radius on the very comfortable Augmented D neck shape with dark rosewood fingerboard and body sculpting and single body binding. So basically, no I cannot recreate the level of quality and features on this guitar from a MIM Tele. Could a MIM tele be upgraded with PU's, control panel and bridge and sound better? Sure. But it will never equal the sum of the parts that I have here. For me it has been fun and I love the end result, look and feel of this guitar. PS: It is extravagant. I'm blessed to be in a position to do this and I am enjoying the ride immensely.

Beautiful guitar! How do you like the Fralin pickups in comparison to the Lollars you have in your other Tele? I have an American Deluxe Tele with N3 noiseless pickups that I've thought about changing. I go back and forth though, because the N3's really do sound good in their own right.

@@rz0svp I like the Lollar J Street Bridge PU with the Royal T neck PU. Although Lollar also indicate the Special T neck PU would mate well with the Royal T bridge.
