I liken all those voices on that amp with all the gears on a modern bicycle. You end up picking your favorite one or two and don't use the rest. The good part is that you have so many to choose from. I have a Vibro-Champ XD and just use voice #1.

Yeah I bought one at a pawnshop 3 years ago. I didn’t know exactly what it was but I saw tubes and saw the 130.00 price. They took 100.00 even. I play it a lot more than my blues jr. I love the bassman setting. Mine is some kind of a limited edition with cream colored tolex. There used to be a community out there that would tell you settings to get a perfect tone like by artist and song and the gilmour stuff was right on the money.

Good video and your advice helped me to decide and i bought one few days ago. And i have to tell that it is a great amp, great sound - nobody said it has great strong middle tones in all voices, so that middles knob you dont need. Then, sound is bright, very good cleans. You should play without reverb some tones, to show old fender tones. You have to crank it on 4 or 5 at least to get full sound. It has good drive channels. All FX is good also spring reverb, digital but ok. Gain knob is essential, amount gives so much changes ..

I found the 8” sounds best with this amp. Also on the super champ xd and x2 everybody swapped speakers out and I tried many many speakers and sizes and always go back to stick speaker.
@rex89584 жыл бұрын
I love mine, got it for $225 (after shipping) back in May off Reverb. I was thinking about the Super Champ XD. For at least $125 I couldn’t really justify it since I don’t gig. My vibro cranked is definitely very loud. The Fender XD and X2 models are very great hybrid tube amps and I would definitely recommend getting one of these instead one of those solid state fender champion models.

I'm sure these are gaining in value- they say Fender on them and have a tube inside- you could literally write Fender's name on a box, chunk a tube in it- and someone would buy it, I think. And for the prices ppl are posting below- 125 bucks, even 250 bucks- I might grab it. But, now they're up to like 350- for 350 I can buy a used Blackstar Club HT40, which is a really nice, modern tube amp that is gig worthy- not just intended to be a practice amp. And it does everything from light breakup or clean blues to really overdriven metal distortion. There are no presets but- I'll gladly swap that for a real amp like the Club 40.

Was speaker change definitely worth it? Think mine is pretty much stock. Just started to get into it. I found to get a decent overdrive, master volume has to be pretty high, over 4 which starts getting loud and re eq'd to turn the highs down and thinking speaker swap might help that out.

Hey man. Cool I'm looking at one of these. I am usually just uploading mediocre at best Ambient blues stuff I come up with. I'm new to guitar now about 3 year at most. And coming from drums decades I have alot to learn about gear with guitars. I'm honest about what I review when I do them but mostly mid range and budget. I saw a new one of these for 220 20 shipping but I wonder if I should. Since I use interface now. So I can use my valhalla. Subbed. Thanks.

I will add for anyone considering this that the eq and gain on this amp for me is very dependant on the volume on the distortion voicings... Most my other amps don't need nearly as much tweaking as this one does, again for me, when volume is increased or decreased. But that isn't a bad thing, just different.
