Love the Linda Lindas. They are authentic, they love music, and are expressing themselves with their music, and that makes them worth listening to. In a sea of "music" made by people who missing their true callings as accountants or burger flippers, noise made by people who clearly have no affection for music and nothing to say, performances filled with affectation and posing by people as authentic as mannequins in a department store, the Linda Lindas are what the world needs now.

When Eloise says she sees keys and scales as colors (8:48), that’s a phenomenon known as synesthesia-and in her particular case, she experiences chromesthesia. It’s not entirely rare, but it also isn’t commonly known. Thus Mila says she agrees, Bela goes along with it, and Lucia is baffled.
@jinggaddi2 жыл бұрын
I think I read about that phenomenon chromesthesia in Oliver Sack's book Musicophilia.

I sang with the Russian Chamber Chorus of New York and our director, Nikolai Kachanov, had the same thing. It was hard to understand at first, when he would say "I need the tenors to be more purple on this chord," for example, but eventually you figured it out.

👍Great young talented musicians with a great attitude too. Should've also had a song that the drummer sings lead vocals on. There's some bitter, jealous wannabe musicians in the comments unfairly hating on this young band. They're probably resentful because they weren't cool when they were young, their rockstar fantasies never came true and that they turned out to be talentless old losers. It's ok if this band doesn't play your favorite kind of music genre. So what. Doesn't mean you have be a hater because of it. Go listen to your kind of music instead of criticizing.

One of them said it doesn't matter if you don't know how to play. Is she serious? She shouldn't be because before you start a band you have to know how to play your instrument. I had a bad first time band. We didn't have much experience and chops. We immediately went on stage at a club for a live audition. Customers were drinking and watching. It was embarrassing. I played guitar well but not an expert yet. The drummer made some mistakes and then all of us messed up. It was embarrassing. So who said it doesn't matter if you can't play? This girl here is very wrong if she meant what she said.
@jinggaddi2 жыл бұрын
I think what they meant was to go for it despite not being so skillful yet, and that you must have boundless enthusiasm if you want to get good playing. I don't think they meant to play a gig with less than proper chops. I know they're speaking from experience since when they started jamming, they didn't even know how to play their respective instruments yet. I think Eloise said, "You'll learn!" so there's the value of having enthusiasm right there. In any case, Mila's progress on the drums from when she started playing at 8 years old is phenomenal now that she's 11. Plus, for someone playing bass for around 3 years, Eloise certainly has the chops. From what I heard from their interviews, it was only guitarist Bela who really knew how to play guitar since she had been previously taking lessons.
@T_E_music_playlists2 жыл бұрын
I think that they were referring to punk rock music. In punk they don't care about being perfect. It's about freedom to express yourself. It just the idea that anyone that wants to be involved in music could just pick up a musical instrument, learn as you go, join a band and if you keep at it you will eventually learn how to play. It's just a "Do It Yourself" kind of attitude & approach to music. People that are pretentious, judgmental music snobs generally hate this kind of thing. I'd rather be open minded about music. I enjoy various kinds of music like punk rock but I also like virtuoso music too. People can start out in music in different ways and eventually turn out to be great musicians. Theses young ladies are talented even though their music genre they play may not be your your favorite kind of genre. They're young and still learning.
@tribalypredisposed2 жыл бұрын
Just going to mention a couple bands where some of the members did not know how to play an instrument when they joined the band: The Beatles, The Ramones... And what she said is literally The Punk Rock Philosophy of Band Formation, and they are a Punk band, so if she did not honestly believe that she would be a poser.
