Being able to draw multiple quality electric and acoustic tones from the same guitar, with almost no effort. You just need to be honest about whether this style of instrument fits your use case; it's a perfect fit for mine. YMMV.

Man, I hear that a lot! Really don't know why people talk shit about it. Rewind back to 1976, when I first picked up my brothers Tele...it took me a school year to learn "Wish you were here" and "Stairway to heaven". LOT of house parties back then, and at every party, I would find a guitar in the house, and play those two songs. I haven't slept alone since!!! So, here is to you Jimmy, thanks for "Stairway to Heaven", and 50+ other awesome tunes that I will continue to play on my Tele/SG and Les Paul!!!

My review of the actual guitar: First let me say, I had high hopes for this. I play in a country rock band with lots of guitar changes during our set. This disrupts the flow of the show quite a bit. While I would never use something like this in a studio setting, I saw this as a potential solution for me on stage. I ordered one. When it arrived, I unpacked it and played for about 30 minutes, and decided it wasn’t for me. Why? Well, first the good part: It really does sound great plugged in. There are several good, useable acoustic sounds, and the Tele pickup is also passable. What I didn’t like was the tone/blend knob layout. In a live situation, where I’m singing lead, and trying to switch between electric and acoustic sounds, there is no way, in some combinations, to switch back and forth with ease. It would require carefully switching the 5-way to the right position, and then making sure the blend knob was in the right setting. WAY too much to think about, when the whole point was to try and simplify. This sort of switching might be great in a studio setting, where you have a lot of time to tweak and find just the right sound, as in the video above. But I have great vintage “real” acoustic guitars that I would much prefer to record with... As I said, this was supposed to be for live playing. Also, I really didn’t like the feel of the guitar. I could not escape the feeling that I was playing a Baby Taylor. It doesn’t feel like an acoustic, and it doesn’t feel like an electric... so, does it feel like an old pair of jeans? Uh, no. Look, guitars are very personal beasts. To feel comfort on stage, you’ve got to have something in your hands that feels familiar. This couldn’t have felt more foreign to me. And, it did not have the feel of a high end guitar (read price tag). This felt like something that should be under 1k. I’m sorry to say that, and I’m not one of the “looks new/different and therefore can’t be good” haters who have lined up here to poopoo on Fender’s parade. I’m just writing this in the hope of dissuading people from ordering this online and having to return it; a gamble i wittingly entered into, and lost $114 in return shipping costs. If you think you may be interested in this, GO PLAY ONE IN A STORE. Don’t buy it online. Fender gets extra points for development and innovation. I just don’t think it quite landed. At least not for me. YMMV. Cheers.

Great post. It does sound pretty good plugged in and the nice thing about it is you can just plug it into a regular amp and get some really decent acoustic sounds . I wasn't really impressed with the electric sound and unplugged it sounds like shit. I do actually like the guitar and would consider buying it if it was a lot cheaper. 2 grand it's just ridiculous for this guitar. I don't see the need to have this guitar made in America and cost $2000 when they could've easily made it in Korea and charged 800 bucks for it . To me it's just a novelty guitar that I could be coaxed into buying at the right price but at $2000 fender is not even in the ballpark.

I liked the honest review - very clear and objective. An acoustic feels a big, lightweight hollow thing with a fatter neck, unlike an electric that has a slimmer, heavier, tougher feel. This is a hybrid of acoustic and electric - it won't feel the same BUT with time, you could get use to it. I always play a strat, then it took ages to get use to playing a Les Paul. But eventually I did. I absolutely loved some of the acoustic sounds and when blended from A to B position. BUT how does it feel in your hands to play acoustic style songs on an electric neck? that will be my concern. I could imagine playing funk guitar on this. It is pricey ...... they have to pay for all of the R&D but the all timber finish looks pretty damn good. Unrelated, I liked that silverface Deluxe Reverb amp. Why did he need all the pedals when going electric - not necessary. I am sure any pedal will make it sound more electric ..... and wonderful. Again, thanks - I will try before I buy. Why did you do an on-line order anyway?

This is exactly the innovation I have been waiting for Fender to come out with over the past 15 years. I stopped playing guitar mostly because I got tired of lugging around my electric rig everywhere...but not ever finding the right electric/acoustic also. After 3 years of blowing money and time buying and selling electric/acoustic guitars and lugging my rig everywhere...I threw up my hands and quit playing. I think this will get me back in the game. I started saving for it yesterday. Thank you Fender...you've done it again.

this tele in particular feels like a lot of thought went into this. different wood on different positions of the pickup switch and the A/B knobs, giving versatility to the soundscape in tone for folk, country, or whatever acoustic range a player can find. sounds great with effects and the bends in this baby is a trait rare in some acoustic builds. I just wish these dudes would push some boundaries unless they're trying to hide the flaws.

My only lingering question is... how much?? I appreciate that Fender is trying to innovate. That must be challenging when you essentially have to redress the same basic product line over decades. Finally got my hands on one of these at my local shop today; they had just gotten two in yesterday. Tone and looks are subjective, so your (or my) opinion on the matter is worthless to anyone else. Personally I dig the look, and the tones in person are great (KZbin videos mangle sound quality). I spent a good half hour playing it into a Princeton and loved it; also gathered some curious and interested lookers-on. Everyone there came away a fan and I came away owning one of them. My use case is a solo singer/songwriter type of schtick and being able to switch back and forth between acoustic and electric while only schlepping one axe is pure gold. Again, YMMV, but I found the sound across all 10 settings, direct into amp with neutral EQ, to be stellar.

I have a 2012 Fender Strat deluxe which are apparently worth about $1600 used on reverb and $2k to guitar shop. Played it forever. Know it’s an amazing guitar but couldn’t figure it out. Thought maybe I’m an acoustic guy but played one for all of 5 mins and knew that body shape is NOT me. So I was like maybe bass my friend said it’s easier to get started on. I do like the funk of of a jazz bass but still. Just doesn’t feel me. Doesn’t feel right. I went into a local guitar store today and saw one of these hanging on the way. I played one A, E, G chord. Literally that simple just stroked all 3 notes and yep. 100% favorite guitar I’ve ever touched, heard, looked at, saw the price tag was $1995.00 there for the American version so knew I had to save a bit. Went home and looked on reverb, and a shop in Cape Coral was selling one for $1095 SHIPPED! It had only been up 1 hour and was already in 7 other peoples checkout carts. For that price, I could see why. Needless to say, it’ll be to my house in 2-3 business days. LOLOL sorry guys! Ya snooze, ya lose! I CANT FUCKING WAIT!!!

This guitar seems like it was built for me. Recently, I went to the guitar center to try out both a Stratocaster and a Telecaster, and I was not impressed by either one. What I was looking for tonally simply wasn't there. I currently own a Martin D10e and a Fender Newporter, so I guess I'm a bit spoiled. This guitar is much richer than a pure electric guitar. Finally, a guitar that you can play CCR and Beethoven on, simply by turning a knob.

I was looking for the correct words to describe it and you nailed it. Whatever setting it is on, it lacks depth, the bass sounds forced and the highs sound very tinny. Expensive is subjective. Some people settle for a $2000 car, some $20,000...then there are those who get the $200,000 cars. I've bought 2 of these guitars love them but I've had to send them both back. The jack keeps coming unplugged in mid play.im a professional musician and cant really afford to have this happen at my shows.I'm use the same L shaped jack that i use on my acoustic guitars and have no problems with it.Am I doing something wrong or is this a common problem with the Mexican made acoustasonic.

The action of this one seems quite high. Can the saddle be set up to some extent otherwise it's just a piece of electric digital and wood material. Honestly, it did not sound good to me.
