I see no one has commented their interpretation of the lyrics yet. My understanding is “garden gates were talking over” is about trying to be social with neighbors awkwardly after the pandemic. And “blades of grass are upright daggers” is about the discomfort of stepping outside after social isolation. I just can’t piece together the final lines about looking up and heaven. Any thoughts?

i also think "blades of grass are upright daggers" is meant to be taken rhetorically, like "anything could kill us, even blades of grass are upright daggers." not that blades of grass are going to stab anyone, it just means anything could be our doom at any point, so why be so scared? it seems somewhat anti-lockdown in context but regardless of politcal views, the whole last part lyrically feels like a mantra of someone just sick of isolation, not caring about what could happen in the future, as if he's already accepted not just his fate, but the fate of the world, our world also being a "tomb for rockets," giving off kind of apocalyptic vibes imo. makes me feel accepting of a worldwide catastrophy in a strange, positive - or maybe negative - nihilistic way. anyways that was my weird interpretation
