People were pretty quick to criticize the Fenix 319's lack of ability to lose speed during approach, calling it 'unrealistic'. Turns out, that is just the character of the real airplane. Great review all around pal. :)

This is the addon (and the video) I've been waiting for since basically FSX days. I flew on an Air 2000 A321 from Gatwick to Salzburg in 1999, and a bunch of other 321s going back to Swissair in 1995, and just a few weeks ago I did an Easyjet A319 to Amsterdam, so it's brilliant to finally have these in the sim. One thing you didn't mention is that in the notes, Fenix said they worked on the transition from approach to landing (the flare) a LOT with this update, and from watching your landing and also several done by A330 Driver on his live stream, they all look super smooth. There's no sudden nose dropping or anything. Do you agree that it's better now?

14:20 although interestingly it’s not really the case that the A320 limits the speed brake with with autopilot in, but rather it gives you extra speed brake in manual flight, because half speed brake on the 320 is almost exactly the same deflection as full speed brake on the 319 and 321

Just downloaded these, tried to fly the A321, could not figure out why I couldn't get engines working, then realised after three weeks of getting used to the B777, i had forgot the start up switch, interestingly, also had issues with the throttles, i had to reset the engine profiles, as some sites said there would not be a need to set the engines as the profiles for the a320 would be the same. Still a very nice flight.

For the 319 and its speed on approach, is a config 3 landing on a long runway with a higher speed preferred, giving a lower reduction to Vapp, or does the reduced drag from flap 3 cause largely the same issue?

Question regarding the 787. How come the ailerons and flaperons don’t droop when hydraulic pressure is removed? Are they locked in place somehow?

@320SimPilot3 ай бұрын
This is always a tricky question! It’s going to come down to what you like to do in your simulator. If you have a specific airline and route you want to recreate, or have learned as much as you can about the A320 and want to try something new then yes, this expansion is super. But if you aren’t sure of course you may wish to purchase a different style of aircraft to try out! Ultimately these are super detailed and beautiful models but the A320 family is largely similar. It just depends what you are looking to get from it.

@Fcreceptor2 ай бұрын
In Europe it seems they wait until they’re closer to configure for landing. In the US you’re supposed to be fully configured by the final approach fix. It typically comes down between 7 and 4 miles DME. There are variables in some cases. I tend to lower earlier than I should as well, but a lot of that is needing the extra couple miles to finish my landing checks. It’s going to be much easier for 2 pilots since it’s made to be flown by two pilots.

@ColinM99913 ай бұрын
The takeoff and landing look decent fot once. My biggest criticism of MSFS is how light planes feel - lacking inertia, reacting too easily to pitch and roll movements compared to X-Plane or any other flight sim. Is that still the case when in flight? Have you configured sensitivity curves to mute the reactive pitch up on takeoff and landing?
@Julian-mo9dn3 ай бұрын
You say it’s hard to slow down a 319 because it’s light - but then you point out that it easily maintains 180 with only flap 1 out because it’s light. Isn’t there a contradiction?
@320SimPilot3 ай бұрын
Great question! My point about the 180 flap 1 is that it can slow down to that speed without needing more flap. The ‘S’ speed is nicely at or usually below 180, whereas on the A321 would of course not be the case. In the video we are actually still a relatively heavy A319 and 180 is available to us at flap 1. The difficulty in slowing down in a A319 refers to once you are already on the glide slope, as it has the nose low to maintain the glideslope at 180 (due to its big wing!) it will then struggle to decelerate, and has a lot more speed to lose due to the low approach speeds! This makes the standard ‘160 kts to 4 miles’ that lots of busy airports ask for more of a challenge to achieve. I hope this helps!
