I like this flashlight. Lightweight small and runs at AA. Best EDC tool in my flashlight collection.

I had the E11 for like 100 years until of all things, a rechargeable AA leaked and killed it. So since the 11 has gone the way of the dodo, and I like Fenix lights, your vid sold me on obtaining the 12, bravo! Keep it up with the great reviews!

Thanks for the comparison and worthy review. Wish the tail switch was a forward clicky with momentary action. Fenix has been making good quality flashlights for quite a while and I have had several of their AA and AAA lights.

I had the E11 and then lost it, got the e12 and lost that too. I never fancied the e12 series cycling modes. I loved that the E11 was two modes and it stuck to the mode you left it in. The best thing about this series of lights is by far the TIR lens!

Thanks a lot for this review!!!! I have an Olight i5T and was planing to buy another one. Now it´s going to be the fenix E12. In the olight your are not allowed to use the AA Lithium battery. In the fenix you can and the E12 is also almost half the price!!!! Also like the firefly 5 lumen mode. Greetings from Austria.

Nice thing! But as it doesn't have any intelligent overheat protection, isn't there any risk of damaging with high temperatures when it works for a long time (0:0:32 you mentioned 236 F - i'd say extremely hot, if it's not a mistake)?
@PreparedGuy
@PreparedGuy Жыл бұрын
😂🤦🏻‍♂️🤣 my apologies, I meant 136, which is still kinda of warm. But 236F would be off the chart. My 67,000 LUMEN FLASHLIGHT BARELY REACHES THOSE TEMPERATURES 🤣 SORRY ABOUT THAT. after 200+ videos and thosands of flashlight tests I'm bound to missspeak sooner or later. 236F would burn right through your pocket for sure 😃

Clips very nicely to the molle loop on my Rush 12 backpack strap to provide some nice illumination at night for a walk, unclip and and crank it up for a good all purpose torch, for its size and price it is an excellent little torch.

Fenix ARB-L14-1600U ...that's the 1.5volt 1600 mAh USB-rechargeable lithium ion cell I was mentioned in my previous comment that I use in my e12 v2.0 and couldn't be happier with the performance I get. I highly recommend these cells not just for Fenix lights or even single AA lights I also run two of the same cells in a 2xaa malkoff setup I have for maximum brightness for extended periods of time so much so it's almost hard to believe that all the power is coming from 2 AA cells!

So weird that in runtime and sustained voltage Lithium is clearly superior, but the manual makes it appear that lithium is not the best option for the light. It says that alkaline and nimh are recommended, and lithium is acceptable. I wonder why this is. Great video! Also, how long do you think the E12 maintained 160lm with the lithium? Asking because I use energized max lithium in all of my lights including this one.

It's best video in manual mode so that the iso can be adjusted to allow light in. That way the camera will pick up what you're seeing and relay it to the viewers. Thanks for the comment. 😎👍😊

How well does it function on the bill of a hat as a headlamp? Is it a wide enough beam to see what you're doing close up as well as farther out for walking? I have a different light that does this but I feel like it's always aimed to high for close up tasks, like changing a tire or reading.

It's surprisingly wider than expected also I would say a little wider than the i5t. Just not as bright of course.

I just got the v2 after owning a v1, the clip on the Fenix only lets my bill insert half way. It would be better if the bill could go all the way into the clip, but it is relatively secure at half way.

Just wondering if the E12 is the only light you carry for everything?
@bthngrss
@bthngrss 2 жыл бұрын
Actualy, it depends on person. When i'm at camp or forest activity, i always have a head light and i also carry a ledlenser p3 in my pocket for everyday... But e12 v2 is always in my backpack as secondary edc flashlight, just in case of need much power(160lm) or more runtime need(5lm/70hour)... By the way E12 is not "the perfect" one for everything but really enough for everything, even as a head light (with a cap)... One is none, two is one. It is with me everyday for emergency since i got it.

I bought this light and I did not like it because of the lack of mode memory and 14500 support that being said I've been trying it with the O light 14500 battery because it's only 2.4 volts and so far I have not had a problem. That may be a nice alternative for someone who likes this light

I agree, tail switch operated single AA is a great platform but definitely not a "rare" one...🤔 And yes enegerizer ultimate lith. Are without a doubt the best performing off the shelf AA and AAA batteries available. They also cost a significant amount more which depending on your use can certainly be worth it however in my e12 I run a Fenix lithium ion AA they are 1.5 volts fully charged and since it's lithium ion it maintains the max brightness during the duration of use untill cell is fully discharged. They like 8-16$ A PIECE. But being it's a one time purchase compared to the energizer lithium disposables it will pay for itself just saving u from buying even one 4 pack of the energizers...

@@PreparedGuy If you mean the Fenix HM65R-T, it is very nice. An excellent headlamp. I was just using it a few minutes ago. Fenix said they were sending me that model for review but I haven't heard from them in a few weeks. I'm assuming it's in the mail. If it comes in soon I'll be doing a review on it. That is a larger light for only 160 lumens. My Fenix E09R is brighter and has a 600 lumen burst mode and 300 on high..it is also smaller than the AA light and has less output. I wasn't criticizing the light, nor was I assuming anything negative about a AA or AAA light. Why buy anything this size with no more runtime or output? You can swap batteries in other lights such as a charged 18650 or 2 cr123's. We can always carry extra batteries for a few extra hours of runtime. That's what I always do and it isn't a hassle

I like this light because it's quite durable and inexpensive, but the groves on the body provide almost no grip. They're just too fine. Anyway, I got a few as backup lights for power outages, so that hopefully won't be much of an issue. I think I'll try wrapping some electrical tape around them, too. For EDC use, I'd recommend using the wrist strap to lower the risk of losing the light.
