I was a land drainage engineer based in Boston. Drains, culverts and pumping stations were all very familiar to me.

I grew up in the fens leaving Ramsy school in 77. Unfortunately alot of towns featured have declined since this film was made. Wisbech especially has hit hard times.

Peterborough girl here. Yes, it's a shame. Some places have retained their charm though. My son has recently moved to Hemingford near St Ives and it's lovely there, and today I visited Whittlesey, which I used to turn my nose up at, but it actually looked lovely in the hazy sunshine, and had had many improvements the in last few years. My city is on the decline unfortunately.

Not so much an edit but a glitch present on the original unfortunately. Both sources I've seen have had this defect. Looks like a dropout when the film was digitally transfered.
