Heinrich von Kleist is one of the really important writers that lived around 1800. Together with Goethe, Schiller, Wieland and Hölderlin Kleist is part of the so called Weimar Classicism. He is maybe best known for his play "The Broken Jug" which is still played and which also was adapted for cinema and tv.
