Rabecca Burger shares her story of losing her baby's father to fentanyl, along with her own story of starting recovery. Illicit fentanyl is a dangerous, life-threatening drug frequently found in other illicit drugs and results in the death of 200 people per day in the US. This is just one of those stories and delivers an urgent warning to avoid all illicit drugs.

Nobody wants to hang out with an alcoholic, but an alcoholic. It’s a difficult place to be when you burn every bridge you have and are left with nobody around but family members who are part of the problem as well. 🤷🏼‍♀️

You are a rare bird indeed. You are wise beyond your years and wise beyond your past addiction. You are a gifted and eloquent speaker who has the ability to see past the nowhere of addiction and actually foresee a connection to a future free of addiction ~ and realize it is doable . As long as you continue to believe in yourself, you absolutely possess the skills, strength and fortitude to become a fantastic counselor capable of helping many people break the downward spiral of addiction and achieve new hope for a better future free of drugs. Sending you love and light that your strength prevails and you continue to meet challenges head on and you never, ever, find yourself on that self destructive, life limiting, death tempting, path again. Your son has much to be proud of in his mom. Thank you for sharing your story 🌺

I myself was a former addict and was addicted to heroin/ fentanyl for over 7 years basically I wasted my whole mid twenties destroying my life, I even lost custody of my 4 year old son. It took me catching a felony to change my life, I didn’t want to end up in prison. I’d already lost custody of my son and my friends around me started dying. I finally got sober and have been sober from opiates for 6 1/2 years. It gets better as the time passes. Take it one day at a time, change your phone number and surround yourself with sober people. Misery loves company and most of your so called friends really don’t give a crap about you! The one who needs you is your son!! Hope you continue to stay sober, good luck!

You are so beautiful Becca and you can have a wonderful life free from any drugs. I come from generations of alcoholics and ended up one myself. I’ve been sober 30+ years now, I lived and breathed AA for the first 5 years, I had a tough sponsor and would have done anything to stay sober. I lost my mum, two brothers to suicide and finally my husband of 38 years and even though the grief was excruciating I refused to pick up a drink or drug. My husband was sober 22 years when he died suddenly from cancer and his goal was to die still married and sober, which he achieved. No matter how painful it is to feel the grief I will not go back and do that to myself. I suggest you change your phone number and get around people in strong recovery, maybe even see a grief counsellor. You have so much to offer this world beautiful one. I’ll be praying for you.🥰🙏🏼

I pray you keep putting in the work sweet girl. I’ve been clean almost 8 years off of IV heroin and actually anything I could put in a needle. Getting clean is easy….STAYING CLEAN is the hard part. You only have to change one thing. That’s EVERYTHING. Reach out and find people who have been clean for years. Do what the “old timers” tell you to do. Even if you don’t want to. It’s not always easy, but it’s always worth it ❤

I have been clean since 2016 from everything. Opiate addiction is the worst. You have to walk away from everything you know. Your friends, even family if they are associated with drugs. I have lost everyone in my life, I have no friends, I try to meet new friends and they end up being users. It’s really hard for me being 39 yrs old, ppl my age In California are just drug addicts. But I am content now being alone with my daughter and just enjoying a clean life.

Good for you! I am 7 years clean with the help of seboxone. But i would not be here if it were not for the seboxone because i would have relapses without it. I tried getting clean for 17 years and failed miserably. If you relapse and need help dont feel bad. People are less likely to relapse with that specific medications. It really saved my life. I am praying for you dear little one. 🙏. And again dont ever be ashamed if you need that extra help to stay clean. At least with the seboxone you have a chance. You know you wont overdose and die.

No offense, but the paramedics knew he was gone. It wasn't that they "didn't even try," they knew he was beyond hope. Not trying to be unkind to you, but your boyfriend was gone - medics do everything they can if there's even a molecule of hope that there may be some life in a person. What you have on your side is that you're young, and. you have a son you can raise to break the cycle of addiction in your family. I'm sorry for what you've been through. Getting clean is a process and can take a few times - don't lose hope, even when you feel hopeless.

Becca, I am so sorry for all of your losses honey! I am sorry for all the pain and suffering you have been through in your life. I am very proud of you to see that you are in recovery and telling your story to others to help them! I know it is not easy to stay clean and you can find a million reasons not to use but you only need one to use. Stay on your path honey, stay focused because you just gave yourself a chance at a totally different life, FULL of OPPORTUNITY and OPTIONS for you to help you in a direction you want to go in for a career or family. I respect you utmost for telling us that "If you cant stop for yourself, do it for your family: I know 99% of addicts want to quit but dont want to put in the work. But taking your family into consideration, and REALLY focusing on what your goals are to stay sober, like not only to keep yourself healthy and safe, but to not put your family thorugh loosing another family memeber. That shows that you are CONSIDERATE, CARING AND LOVING PERSON, and I think you are going to do fantastic in your recovery one day at a time, I am very, very proud of you and so happy you made the right choice! Have the life you WANT! not what others want for you by trying to bring you down girl, you got this!!! I know when i see some people struggling , that you - actually have the fire in your soul to stay on this path! Love and blessings to you honey, I will keep you and your family in my prayers!

Keep trying! Then your trying will become doing. Your son depends on you to be there for him. You brought him here, he is yours to raise and protect. 13 days sober turns to 14, 20, 50, 120, 365. You got this!!

Such a heartbreaking story. This is why we need the stuff at the border to stop. Those migrants and the drug cartels smuggle this horrible drug into our country and people like Becca pay the price. Thank you for sharing your story.

More than that, we need to educate and place what’s needed in the community to prevent people from turning to drugs.

It can be done! I got two years clean now and I feel alive again. I was on meth and fentanyl all day every day! Almost died a few times and almost lost everything. Stay strong 💪

Stay sober Rabecca. You're worth it. Take it from this 41 year old, the drugs aren't worth it. Even alcohol.

Becca, if you're reading this, please know I'm pulling for you. I know you feel an intense amount of pressure to stay on track and not disappoint everyone. Don't let that be your downfall. Take life one day at a time, and when the cravings hit, take them 1 hour at a time. The people you need to do this for are yourself and your baby. Are you journaling your daily thoughts and experiences? That helps me tremendously. Take our advice, and block anyone who is unhealthy from your life. The background noise will eventually go away so you can keep focused. I wish you the best. You deserve it. ❤❤❤

I've only watched this podcast for six minutes so far, but I'm already a big fan of this young woman. I am an old lady so she looks like a beautiful girl to me. What a beautiful heart and face. Those gorgeous blue eyes are a wonderful lense to her brave, strong soul.

I wish this girl the best because she hasn't been clean for that long but I give her lots of credit for trying. I hope her family can also help her little cousin who had to see the dead boyfriend because that little girl will also need counseling.

Good job sis!!! 13 days clean is AWESOME!!! Some dont makebit to day 3!!! When you hit those tough bumps, PLEASE refer back to this video as a reminder!!!! It gets much much easier as time goes, i'm 26 and i was addicted to the 30s for about a yr and then some... Pregnant with my daughter made me quit. I literally had to train my brain to HATE that drug, thats what helps me EVERYDAY. But most importantly, GOD. He who is within, I can not fail!
