At what point during the run do you surf out to the ship for ice beam? Do you judge based on if you need the move?

I generally go and grab it straight after obtaining Surf - it's not *too* far from Mauville to the Abandoned Ship, and a strategic Teleport back can save some time.

Mithyena is probably the most annoying pokemon in franchise history. It appears every so often to intimidate you, then throw sand in your eye or confuse you.

I actually don't think Fire in R/S/E is as bad as Grass in Gen 2. There's a huge chunk of the game where you don't actually fight alot of Water or Rock types.
