For those hollering animal abuse and jail the owner… you need to understand that this was a 4-H project, then the owner left for college. The parents probably had no experience with sheep, but recently learned that she should have been sheared. They then turned her over to a farm sanctuary. The sanctuary then scheduled the shearing and will provide her with appropriate care for the rest of her life. Also she as in beautiful condition once they got the wool off; so the parents, though inexperienced with sheep needing shearing were otherwise providing appropriate care.

If you know you going off to college why even get the sheep
@sallyintucson3 ай бұрын
I had sheep in 4-H too. (Mid-“70’s) It’s unusual that she didn’t get auctioned off.
@ShainCaldwell3 ай бұрын
@sallyintucson back then I showed heifers (FFA) and it was a common practice for a company/person to buy the animal but not take possession of the animal claiming it as a donation. The animal was either intentionally left with the person who showed the animal or they just forgot about it. The animal just kind of became part of the farm. Parents didn't always know how to take of it. ALL OF THAT BEING SAID... I find it hard to believe that a farm kid went off to college and never came back. When I was in college, I was home at the very least one weekend a month. If it was harvest, sometimes a few days a week. So I would still blame the kid who showed it. They could have arranged for a shearing at any time. Abandoning an animal to someone else by default isn't an excuse. If they were going to keep it they are still responsible for the animals welfare. You wouldn't just go on vacation without making sure all was taken care of.

Idk about jail but come on, in 4 years the initial owner never checked on the animal?

Poor baby! Letting this sweet creature get into this horrible shape must have been noting but pure torture for her. The heat from that wool must have been awful! Even though the owners did not know the sheep needed to be sheared, to me it is just ignorance allow this to happen and never consider the quality of the sheep's life. Lack of awareness for her comfort is no excuse. The owner should be ashamed. You are so gentle with these animals when you work with them, which is why I prefer your channel over some others on KZbin!
