Agreed! It's such a good representation of what it feels like to grow up, with all the pressures that entails. And bloody hell it makes me want to cry when that old line is repeated that "big girls don't cry." How many times do we end up crying in private from all the pressure "to be a big grownup", but are too afraid to show that vulnerability openly because of the backlash, because of being called "childish" or "sensitive" or dismissed as "weak" or worse, "hysterical"? This song is such a hug of understanding, of validation, where the titular lyric is so clearly a lie in the context but a lie we all know too well. Cos sometimes I do just feel like a child and all I want to do is find a blanket to wrap around my shoulders like a hug. And _that's_ the core truth being expressed, a truth that's denied by the world of "big grownup[s]", and it's validating to hear that you're not the only one who's "missing their blanket" when we're all told to hide it, to suppress it, because "big girls don't cry."
