singers with great voices always last the test of time Ferlin Husky one of my favourites of real C&W music.

i met Ferlin Husky in June 2007 at the Rockin' 50s Gala in Green Bay, Wisconsin and got to spend some time with him. We were talking about "Gone" and "Snow White Dove", his other hit. Ferlin told me that although "Gone" was his first hit and well received, many more records of "Snow White Dove" were sold. He was the nicest guy you can imagine, even though he was in a lot of discomfort due to blockages in the blood vessels in his legs. Shortly after his appearance at the gala, he was admitted to the hospital. Sadly, he passed away in 2011. Somewhere I have a photo of him and me. He was a quality guy.

Soul comes from the "heart", Not a matter of " pigment". But feeling and emotion. Thank you Ferlin.

Back in the 60's, my father in law was a marine in Japan, and worked at the NCO club. Ferlin Husky was doing a tour of military bases and my father in law got to meet him. He told Ferlin that when he got back to Nashville to look up his brother, Ralph Crockett. Ralph ran a fishing resort near Waverly Tennessee called "Trails End". Ferlin went to Trails End and fished with my Uncle Ralph. At the end of the day, Ferlin gave his jacket to Uncle Ralph. Ralph died in the 1984 and his wife, Anna, told me the story and gave the jacket to me. I still have it to this day.

I have been waiting to access this song on YT for some time, now. After listening to the original recording of Gone from 1956 on the radio several years ago, I FINALLY get to see Ferlin Husky sing it on a Grand Ole Opry telecast from the early 60's. Thank you, thank you for this video. Lovely melody.

I'm age 57 and I grew up on this song. I was born in 1964 and my dad had this record and played it amongst many other great classic country and rock and roll Tunes. But Ferlin Husky's Gone is truly a great classic from 1957 and I'm glad my dad had it on a 45. My dad passed away in December 2020 (and NO!! NOT FROM COVID!!!) Ferlin Husky Gone is one of the songs that I'll always think of my dad whenever I play it.

Ferlin is an incomparable talent. His vocal renditions (Gone & There Goes...) have such heartfelt sincerity, which is a strange contrast to his joy for humor and laughter. Ferlin, aka Simon Crum, in my opinion, is one of the GREATS of real country music.

This song is so strange to me. It gives me nostalgia for a time I never lived, but I can also see how it led to the "Nashville sound" which I'm currently researching... And also led to the shitty country music we have today instead of badasses like like John Denver, Marty Robbins and Johnny Cash taking the reigns on the future of country.
