Thank you for the explanation; however, I have encountered an issue. Quantum mechanics tells us that excitation occurs only at the correct energy levels. However, in this example, the energy level E′does not match the excitation energy. Why then is there still a probability for electrons to move to the conduction band?

Conduction band itself is having many energy levels dear.

@chen-yulee4342 : Practically we are not talking about one electron, it is always aggregated electrons, but still I need to see it in more details.
