as a spring type, who is bad of saying goodbye to black&white, one of the things I've noticed about wearing black is that there are actually black with a warmer undertone, although it is harder to find. A life hack for people with warm undertones who'd like to wear black: once black clothes of natural materials start to fade a bit, dye them with a brown of coffee coloured fabric dye. The difference on the garnment itself is barely noticable, but once you'll wear them, it makes a huge difference.

I’m a certified personal color analyst in Indiana. I use the Sci/Art method and totally agree that it can only be done in person to receive a result you can trust. So many of my clients come to me after having been previously put into the wrong season. The best part about a professional color analysis is that you should be able to see and understand what’s happening as you go through the process. The education is as valuable as the outcome. Thanks for shining a light on this topic that so many are interested in!

I agree that a good color analysis must be done in person. My skin and eye color can look totally different in pictures. Plus you won't have your skin react to a color in a photo. I am a very frugal person. However, I have wasted alot of money on clothing not knowing my best colors. I am nearly 60 years old and have had so much frustration because of making assumptions about my color season. I am a brunette with golden olive skin and blue green eyes with golden flecks around the pupils. For decades I assumed I was a winter. But, I always felt like something was off. Then I watched a KZbin video and thought I must be a softsummer/winter because I have a soft croma. Finally, I found a video by Miriam style and realized (with out a doubt ) I am actually a deep/soft autumn. I always assumed I couldn't be warm because I looked horrible in bright very warm colors and I also thought all olive skin was cool toned. I was wrong! I love the softer deep warm shades on me. It makes my eyes and skin glow and I dont look so dreadfully sallow anymore. Too bad it took me until I was 60 to finally figure this out ! I really wish I would have done my colors professionally done decades ago !!!
@vazq_Fernanda3 жыл бұрын
I can be pretty frugal too, but on some things I do believe it's worth it to invest the money. This is one of them! I wonder if you would consider getting a professional color analysis now? I'm still of the idea that olive skin is cool at it's nature (green undertones - green being a color in the cool side) but I do believe there can be warmer olives, though only in comparison to other olives if that makes sense.
@JC-yc8wg3 жыл бұрын
@@vazq_Fernanda Hi Fernanda, thank you for your reply. I have compared soft chroma peachs vs. cool pinks, burnt oranges vs. cool burgundies/mauves and cream vs. soft white. I really prefer the warmer tones as long as their not too light and bright. I also agree that olive skin does have an element of coolness. But in my case, having such a golden hue, I turn too grayish in very blue based colors. The deep autumn palette seems just right because it still has alot of cool tones and the soft richer deeper colors bring the warm tones to a more of a neutral . I guess this is my long way of saying, not now I'm happy 🙂

I am fascinated to watch this journey. I think HoC also does style typing, did you get that service too? If you make another video can you address the middle ground of hue/value/chroma. For example, on a 1-10 hue scale with 1-5= warm, 6-10= cool, what if you are a 6? Wouldn’t you look better in level 4 warms than level 10 cools? You’d technically be a cool season, say winter, but 40% of your better colors would be autumn and 40% of your season’s colors would be too cool on you. Same for dark/light and soft/bright. Can’t someone functionally be medium on these spectrums? Sorry for the long comment this is just something I’ve been wondering a while.
@VioletToadstool3 жыл бұрын
Do you follow a particular color season then? How did you choose it?
@HakazeAyase3 жыл бұрын
I think I can answer this as a 6! So I’m a neutral-cool hue, medium value, soft/muted chroma (aka Soft Summer) meaning I can wear most colours with the help of makeup and I won’t look terrible. As a ‘medium’ neutral, yes, I tend to avoid the extremes - brilliant white, black, yellow and blue, and my dominant colours in summer are warm and in winter, cool. Being more neutral than cool I feel I can get away with mixing warm and cool in an outfit eg. Apricot brown skirt and white shirt with peacock green stole, or chartreuse top and olive trousers with teal jumper. The cardinal rule is to have a flattering colour by your face/chin especially coats and accessories - so in my case nothing bright or overly warm. To be honest I wasn’t impressed with my recommended muted colour scheme so I’m mindful of it but still drawn to what I like so my wardrobe is a bit of an eclectic mix of items I love and for now that’s all that matters! I aim for a curated but not a capsule wardrobe :)

Years, no decades ago, a hosiery company had a piece of equipment in a Nordstroms store I was in, it flashed a light on your inner arm, and measured the reflection some how, all to recommend the color of nude pantyhose best suited to your SkinTone. I believe the Munsell color system may be a good color system to implement with online shopping, and any remote color communications, as it consists of a precise numeric measurement of hue, chroma, and shade of any color. It may have been what was being used back then, when women pain $10 every few days for pantyhose 😉
@kimberlyperrotis89623 жыл бұрын
I think a professional color analysis is a great investment. Not only will you look better in your perfect palette, it helps so much to have a starting point for building a good wardrobe that works well. Having all different colors just makes it so difficult to put good outfits together, working with only one-quarter of the color possibilities really helps. I’m eliminating a few of the stronger colors from my Summer palette now that haven’t worked as well as others. After the analysis, I would start by purging all tops that are in one’s worst colors, they can be replaced with simple shirts or t-shirts in better colors for a small expense.

That said, trying my best colors out is like magic, so I wear favorite worst colors a lot less than I used to! I save them for handbags, shoes with opaque tights or slacks, but drapes and other home decor, much more so. I’m a Light Spring…just got Autumn gold drapes, with brassy orange accents. I love Autumn colors and used to wear them all the time. Luckily, there are lighter, clearer versions of the same colors in Spring that are Best Colors on me. It makes a huge difference! I will be wearing my medium-dark red orange at least once in October, but put a light dreamsicle orange with my Halloween leggings and am not going back to Pumpkin!
