While alonso, inherited a lucky 3rd place podium. And Brazil? Gearbox failure, sending him to the back of the Grand Prix, recovering to 7th, from what would’ve likely been a 4th or 3rd place finish. And who can forget China? Lewis again on for a 2nd place podium, but the team wasn’t assertive enough with him about his tyres, much like what happened to norris in Russia, so he lost grip and went off in the pit lane. Gifting alonso another high finish. Only after these three events was alonso lucky to finish equal pts in the standings, and looking like he did better than he really did. Alonso is probably the most talented driver when it comes to racing lines, specially when drivers have to work out of their confort zone. He also has a natural talent finding where the grip ends in unpredictable conditions. There are other drivers with a little bit better raw speed in short bursts but the old man has still his weapons sharp.
