Not really. It's a byproduct of the lack of pitching inside. What you saw is exactly why pitching inside is an important part of baseball. How many Nolan Ryan pitches a foot outside were pulled for homeruns?

@AM3 Lagrimas YES absolutely, that's why catchers practice repositioning, subtle footwork, hidden barehand and a delayed ready glove. If a pitcher feels like his signs are being stolen he has the option to speed/switch up the delivery or reset by fully stepping off the rubber to mess with the batters timing. 2:51 "Even if he cheated..." Looking down while you're in the batter's box is not cheating.

I'm pretty sure Jomboy is just starting to intentionally pretend he doesn't know the rules to get more comments - which hey, we're commenting so its working for him. Just like his catcher's interference call that he said he's "never seen" before.

@@jasongiannaros4091 BS. If you can get an edge WHILE YOU'RE IN PLAY, I say that's just playing the game. It becomes bush league when players outside the field of play get involved, and downright cheating if you're getting signals from the stands.

I’ve played baseball my whole life and I feel like that is part of the game. I’ve always tried to learn teams signs and even watch their base coach to try to learn the sign for them to steal or whatever.
