Hey!! For the gloss varnish, how long do you let yours dry and do you apply multiple coats? And do you just hang after dipping in the varnish?
@FernMitchHandmade3 жыл бұрын
It depends on many factors. I like to leave mine to dry at least 1-2hrs. I don’t apply multiple coats. Yes! To avoid brush marks I find it easier to dip and hang them to drop. But I keep and eye on them and try to wipe the drips, otherwise they can harden hanging on to the piece. Which means more sanding 🤯

I LOVE your marbling technique! It's completely different than mine, and your finished jewelry looks so different, as well, but it is absolutely beautiful. I have one question /comment: to attach your jewelry findings to the clay, you mentioned using Sculpey 'Bake & Bond', which I love, but you don't mention that 'Bake & Bond' MUST be baked after its applied to bond things together. I would imagine that you would suggest baking the piece 'as directed by Sculpey', and it should be done BEFORE glazing with any kind of water based varnish because the varnish can not withstand oven temperatures and could scorch or burn. THANK YOU, again for sharing your GREAT marbling technique! Kindest Regards! Jack
@FernMitchHandmade3 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much Jack 🥰 I’m guessing you are talking about the earring posts. Yes! Bake n bond or liquid clay is another way to attach posts. You need to use this before varnish and bake in the oven for 15-30mins in 275F I hope this helps 😊

@hellohun61843 жыл бұрын
And is there any other tools that I could use instead of the hole maker???
@FernMitchHandmade3 жыл бұрын
It’s a nail sanding tool (linked in the description) . If you search rotary tools on Amazon there is an abundant amount of these. Dremel is a popular brand. And there is a non electric one as well. You can chose to make the whole before you bake your pieces if you do not have a tool like this.
