Arthur Ferrante ~ born 7 Sept 1921 NYC - died 19 Sept 2009 in Florida. Louis Teicher ~ born 24 Aug 1924 Wilkes-Barre, Pa. died 3 Aug 2008 NC. Both were musical prodigies that teamed together in 1947. Retired from the concert scene in about 2002, but never stopped playing at home. After the death of his life long partner Teicher, Ferrante never touched the piano again. In my personal opinion, the passing of Ferrante & Teicher is a great loss to the music world. R.I.P ~ AF & LT

@@seabreeze9296 It was 1969-1970, so the fashion was in for middle aged men of that nature. Back in the 1950's when they first started recording for Columbia & MGM Records, they were clean shaven and had shorter hair, though they still had the horn rimmed glasses, looking like a pair of Clark Kent models. I'm guessing this was taped for Ed Sullivan's CBS show before it was cancelled in 1971.

In the field of cinema music John Barry was a genius. I've heard this song played by many artist over the years. And the theme from the movie which at the time I believe was 67or 69 this movie was rated X the movie is a master piece. A classic But the theme song Midnight cowboy is not only a classic it's one of John Barry's iconic master pieces. It will with out a doubt stand the test of time. Like I was saying though it's been played by many artist but the two than stand out the most that make this song a mater piece are for one these very two well to do gentlemen Ferrante & Teacher and the only other one that makes this song iconic is Roy clark with a guest harmonica player from kentucky. It's absolutely Beautiful if you haven't heard it yet by all means look it up on you tube you to will be just amazed enjoy

Their time period was 1952-1989, when they stopped touring. It was a very long career, but they did well among record collectors and radio stations from 1960-1969. The Millennials and Z-Generation would never have heard of them, thinking correctly that they are both now deceased musicians who performed MOR music. They were strictly for The Silent generation and The Boomer Generation era who heard them on the radio in the 1960's.

Sadly, these Juilliard-educated masters have gone largely overlooked in music history. Perhaps critics believed they were schmaltzy with their “space pop” music. In fact, they were restless innovators of sound in the spirit of John Cage and experimented with their pianos by placing items inside to alter the results. They were once wildly successful at selling albums and appearing on TV variety shows.
